Well, I misunderstood PCC to Police Clearance Certificate instead of passport clearance certificate. Now the interview is scheduled on 16th August and today i came to know when i went to submit document at VFS that I need Passport Clearance Certificate. I am from Ahmedabad. The government offices are closed due to Holiday this week. There is no way I can get it by my interview.

I will appreciate your help. Just lost and do not know what to do next. I am trying to get an appointment but it is not available. How does this affect me? will it affect my visa approval? What if i submit it after my interview? How long will that delay the process?

Contact the consulate and explain your situation. You may find that your interview date will need to be pushed back.

It can happen like this, you can attend the interview and Embassy can give you a form to submit the PCC before they will issue visa.

In the meanwhile, please start the process of getting the PCC on Monday. You may be lucky and will have your PCC in 2-3 days.

Good luck

If you don't have passport PCC at the time of interview, then you will be issued 221g letter to submit Passport PCC thru VFS whenever you can arrange. Your visa will be granted only when your file is fully completed.

Just try if you can get the PCC before interview, if it cant be arranged, then dont take much stress! Just do your interview, and you will get 221g letter for missing doc. That is it!

Mumbai Consulate is pretty to review submitted doc! Since it is PCC, sometimes it may take little longer time to verify. Not sure how much time it can take, but it can be few days to few weeks! It really depend up to case to case.

Hope it helps.

AS others said, don't stress. We just found out our interview is on the 22nd and we have to submit on Tuesday to VFS (live in Surat). Forget about even trying to contact the consulate, waste of your time for Mumbai. Go online to the Seva portal. If you haven't already done so,sign up and then download the PCC clearance document. Fill it out and save it. Upload other documents like gas bill,PAN card, whatever you have. Print out the "receipt" for the form you upload as well as making copies and taking originals of all necessary documents.Go on Monday directly to the Ahmdabad Passport Office (there may be more than one so do a search online and check on the timings or even call an agent inquiring if they can do it and where they go,hours of operation for submission). Go and try to apply. Here in Surat they told us that even if they can't finish the documentation the same day they will not keep the passport. Make sure because of course you will have to have it for your interview. We were able to get ours the same day, even without any appointment. Just show them your appointment letter and state the urgency etc. If you are unable to get it before the interview don't sweat it. GO for the interview as that is the hardest thing to get and you don't want to cancel and then have to go a month later. Then after the interview you can apply for the PCC. Good luck! :)

Relax.......... you are fine :)

I think you have PVC issued by DSP office in Shahibag. Correct? If so, just bring the original PVC (Police Verification Certificate) with interview letter (or even NVC email print out will work) and go to Mithakhali PSK office without any appointment. They will issue your PCC immediately within 2 hours. Yes, you read it right....... 2 hours. They issued my wife in 2 hours since she had NVC interview letter with her. If they ask to come back after 2 or 3 days which they do to some people, then explain your situation and they should be able to consider expedite.

I don't know about holiday schedule in PSK office, but they must have at least one day open before August 16th and you can get it done on that day. Keep us posted!

PS: People do get confused by calling PVC (issued by local Police Station) and PCC (from Passport Seva Kendra) a same thing as "PCC".

Did you have to "help' them to get it done on the same day?

No "helping" or "sweet shops" required for this one :). I was totally shocked that my husband could manage it and it wasn't an extra 1K or more.

Thank you all.

I got the PCC in two hours from the office. We just walked in and presented the urgency and they were nice enough to do the needful. That was very unexpected. Thank you all for your help and jumping on the topic and giving your 2 cents (or I would say your millions).
