I just booked my hotel in Montreal for my interview next week. Was wondering what the easiest way to get from the airport to downtown area (Boulevard Rene Levesque) is? This is my first trip to Montreal so any advice would be very helpful and greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Probably the 747 bus. Click here for more information on its route: http://www.stm.info/English/bus/planibus/747.pdf

There used to be a Bus shuttle that went directly from the airport to the downtown train station. Then from the train stn, one caught a free shuttle that went to the downtown hotels! Wasnt very $$$$. And one just did the exact opposite for the trip back to airport. Not sure if the service is still offered, was something like $24 round trip

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

The 747 does the same thing (airport to Berri-UQAM, though with a few other stops along the way), but it's cheaper than the shuttle.

Taxi's from the airport have a flat-rate to the downtown area that is posted on the inside window of every taxi. It used to be $35, but might be up to $40.

I'd really recommend the new STM route #747, as others have. I've done a cab, I've done the $13 shuttle, and I only wish the 747 had been around when I was still flying a lot!

I'm Canadian, he's American.

I got a cab. $40 or $50 flat rate, don't remember. But once you're downtown everything is walking distance so you won't have to pay to get around again.
