Wow already 10 months? I had to apply for my tourist visa twice and the first time they didn't look at any documents so the second time I didn't bother bringing anything. They really don't look at documents that much I don't think. Maybe except if it's for business or medical reasons. But all my friends who applied for a B1/B2 visa didn't get a chance to show any documents to support their ties.

Hi Every One !

I was interviewed on 29th January 2013 in US Embassy Islamabad. Visa Officer took my passport and put into proceedings. On the site of CEAC my case was “PENDING” till one month. Later on it was updated as "NO STATUS". I sent 2 web based E-mails. In reply they said it is in Administrative Processing. Its 6th month is continued and no change happening in my case status.

Please guide me, is it normal duration or it is a matter of concern now ???????? I am bit depressed and worried now.

Please share your knowledge…………………………….

I was interviewed on 10th Oct-2013 in Karachi embassy with my family for Visit visa (b1/b2). interview was fine, VO took our passports and give us a white paper showing title " 221g- administrative processing" and said we need some additional processing in you case it may take few weeks or months, you just reply the questions mention in a 221g paper. in above 221g paper VO ask for reply some question via email.

the questions are:

Details of Siblings / Children / Spouses

Addresses of last 15 years

Travel history of last 15 years

Employment history of last 15 years

All Previous passport nos.

CV if possible.

I was send the required details on the same day, and now shows the status on web "Administrative processing" Case Creation Date: 30-sep-2013 , and last update date: 21-Oct-2013.

My concern is that how much average time required in karachi embassy. and what is the probability of approving visa? is visa approved of not.

need experts advice.

Sounds like you will get a Visa, when is difficult to say.

It seems that a lot of people experience this issue. The State Department seems to speak out of both sides of their mouth by telling the applicant to present ties to their home country but then not giving them an opportunity to do so. This is directly against the State Department’s own stated policy. A “Visa Policy Telegram” issued by the State Department in 2004 stated that “Proper adjudication requires the consular officer to assess the credibility of the applicant and his/her evidence submitted to support the application.”

The excuse that State Department uses is that they can’t rely on such documents due to the fact that fraudulent documents are easily obtainable. Verifying the authenticity of such documents might require a little due diligence on the part of the embassy staff so they take the easy route of rejecting the applicant quickly and moving on to the next one.

My assumption is that very rarely would the documentation be relevant, other information would have already decided yes or no.

Documentation veracity will vary depending on Consulate, to use the extreme case it seems in Nigeria that you can get pretty much any document you want so it is very rare for documents to be relevant there.

Some Consulates do like paper, it varies with case and location.

Hi -

My sister in-law from China applied for business visa to attend this technology conference event . The event is December 20-24-2013. After her interview the officer gave her a paper saying your application is approved but we will need few weeks to investigate. This happened in September this year. since then the status is in AP and this meeting is very important for her. What happens if the AP continues and she misses her meeting ? Would the embassy issue the visa after the event or if they issue, they will do it before?

They SHOULD let her know if her visa is approved or not BEFORE the event. But from the other posts I seen here, there really is no set time table for AP. Some take only days while others take months.

The embassy in Shanghai told her your visa is approved but we will need a few day/s weeks for more work to be done . Isn't that weird, some one says yes I am going to give you this but wait few weeks?
