CFO Counseling Requirement has no legal basis

When I go back to the PI, perhaps I will attend a CFO seminar just to see what is actually going on, and question the "teachers" about their actual experiences with "bad Americans".

It's my understanding that you won't get past the guard at the door, since yer not a RoP person and female.

Just saying..

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Well sure, that's the right slave mentality.

I think Filipinos have a lot bigger problems to worry about than this, such as extra-judicial killings, i.e. assassinations of anyone who tries to stand up for human rights or against corruption.

So here is a cry baby telling others not to cry. :D

Except what this cry baby is crying about is other people discussing the merits of government requirements. Or researching their legal basis. This is the antithesis of democracy and freedom of speech of course so it is a bizarre stance for anyone in the free world to be taking.

It really is bizarre to have people so upset by others using their brains and thinking. That's really what this comes down to - an objection to thinking and communicating. We should all just shut up, do as we're told, and not think.

Heh. Not me. You can be as pissed off as you like, but it isn't going to stop me from using my brain.

Since it was my post that you quoted, I'll respond by saying, that a lot of what I read on this thread seems to be a lot of bitching and complaining about the process that a person has to go thru in order to bring someone from here to another country as a permanent resident. Some are even wondering about leaving to another country as a tourist and then flying to another country. Does the word fraud mean anything to you? What will they do when they get there and their passport needs to be renewed and they have no sticker in it? I'm not crying about anything, I just pointed out that there seems to be a lot of it going on. My point in all of this is simple, the whole visa process takes time and there are a number of steps that you have to complete before you are allowed a visa. The CFO is a step you need to take before you travel. It was put in place in 1980 for a very good reason, to try and inform and protect Filipino's that were leaving the country to live or work in another country. The best advice always during the visa process is to be honest and to do those things required to get you where you want to go. Don't use fixers, fraudulent documents or try and circumvent the systems of either of the countries involved and as for being pissed off, I doubt you could piss me off, maybe shake my head in wonder.

Thanks, Captain Obvious - and I don't need your permission to post.

Who was quoting the Philippine laws you know nothing about? Me, not you. So isn't that hilarious, with you pretending to inform me. :D

Since we are immigrating Filipinos those laws affect us. Duh. Are you really this infantile with reasoning?

Better to be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt. But hey, by all means keep embarassing yourself.

I was just pointing out that it's part of Philippine law and us not liking, means squat. It's really not that big a deal few hours course, and not nearly the most difficult part of the journey. certianley not worth you getting your panties in a wad over. Anyway.. Peace..

Sorry to interrupt your rant, please continue sir.

Well said. I mean would someone really go to the expense, trouble and time to fly to another country to avoid a course that takes a few hours and cost a minimal amount.. That would be totally illogical.

I was planning to do this. Fly to HK or SG as tourist then leave from there so that we dont need to get the cfo sticker. Does it matter? Do you need to really be from your country when you enter the US?

What are you going to do in the next few years when her passport expires and she cannot get it renewed because you decided to leave the country illegally instead of spending 400 pesos and a couple of hours to do it right? Think about what your doing and then do it the right way

Seems like a lot of people think that the CFO is only for people going to the US, it's not, it's for Filipino's that are going to any other country to live or work and some of the countries they leave for do or can pose serious problems for them. Please give the government here a break, they're just trying to protect their people.

If you read in the first page, you'll note that K-1 visa holders are NOT holding 'valid marriage contracts' so, in essence, this law should not apply to them.

I was just pointing out that it's part of Philippine law

Thanks!

Because I just demonstrated in the OP that it is not required by any Philippine law. So congratulations for an impressive lack in reading skill.

dave01 by your own standard you continue to cry along with Nature Boy - crying about people who express their opinion when there is nothing you can do about it. So following his advice, it certainly isn't enough for the two of you to get your panties in such a tight wad about. You two complain more about this thread than others do about the CFO requirement.

John and Sol - what ludicrous reasoning. Extrajudicial killings are not an immigration matter. But 100% of us have this CFO requirement. That's why it is a topic here, and I am also the only one who has actually started any threads on the Maguindanao Massacre or the MILF and Philippine government war on Mindanao. Have you ever lifted a finger on those issues you claim to be so much more important? Of course not.

What all of you can congratulate yourselves for though is taking the time to speak out against others who take the time to learn about law or discuss it.

There is no requirement to have a CFO sticker to renew your passport at Philippines consulates. If there was, how would people renew it a second time? Plenty of Filipinos have left on vacation and ended up staying where they are. Leaving on vacation and intending to work, is a very common. I agree with you the intent of the CFO is good, although in practice it is a bit lacking.

My fiancé was definitely in the minority at St. Luke's, not many men getting k1 visas. I can imagine how he will feel at the CFO seminar.

What right does the Philippine govt have to get involved in our relationship!?! I mean, it took some time to teach him the right way. He knows to say "yes ma'am, may I have another?" But what about after the seminar... Is he going to stand up to me now? Men should know their place... Working like slaves so I can go shopping or to the salon... And have my dinner ready when I get home... Or... Well there are consequences... If this messes with our balance of power in the relationship.., I might just have to write a wordy message to both the Philippine government and my senator... Women have come too far to go back 40 years...

Lol!!! I think it's dumb he has to go,,, but... It is what it is...

Don't worry, they'll just tell him to go to the embassy if he needs help and show him videos of how you'll beat him. He already knows one, and you just need to keep him too far from his local consulate for to find for the other
