The midwest (and northwest even for that matter) are very 'racist' sectors in this country. It's amazing how truly backwards they are.

I spent 3 1/2 years living up in Minnesota and I had to get away from it. Liberal racist hell is what goes on up there. It's like they're liberals but they actually still try to segregate people. It's really interesting actually. You'd think that the only state not to vote for Ronald Reagan would be a little more compassionate towards all people?

I grew up in Detroit and it was probably the most racist place I have ever been. I was bussed to a majority black school half way through 2nd grade after being in a private catholic school in 1st grade. I was already on a 4th grade level in second grade at the public school. I remember my dad being furious aboutt he whole thing.

I moved to Texas when I was 18. I couldn't believe it. There were white girls dating black guys and vise versa. Initially it was quite a culture shock. I had never seen anything like that growing up in Detroit, except maybe on TV. (The Jeffersons)

I loved the line, He faces no disciplinary action because he resigned. Well DuH? How could they discipline an employee that no longer works for them ? If he had no resigned he would have been fired for sure.

So what is it the parents want to correct by suing the school board. It seems they took action as soon as it was discovered. Do they a school board can guarantee a teacher never acts like an idiot. All they can do is take action when they do.

The whole world has gone nuts. .

Parents-- The school board apologized and fired the teacher. Your precious little brat was not harmed physically. Some idiot teacher said something rude to them and was punished for it. use that as a lesson to show your kid how justice works, and stop trying to use little Johnny gang banger for a paycheck.

They did not take action as soon as it was discovered, seeing as how he was reported in 2002 for his behavior towards a sixth grade girl. Yet he only resigned in March and is getting paid through October. They complained for MONTHS before anything was done about it.

He was reported for various incidents throughout the YEARS and faced random disciplines like fines or suspensions. But they did not fire him. HE RESIGNED. And just this past March.

Olmsted resigned in March

In the suit, parents claim that the district failed to protect their children from Olmsted, the Star Tribune reports. Latasha Tolbert, mother of 12-year-old Jamia Ware, said she made nearly 100 calls to school officials in the fall regarding Olmsted's classroom behavior, but the no one acted until January.

Just so you know, March is not in the fall. Neither is January.

Heights Community School parents have filed a lawsuit that is now moving to federal courts against the St. Paul Public School District in Minnesota, amid an investigation into allegations that teacher Timothy Olmsted discriminated against black students.

What exactly are they suing for? Money? I guess getting some money from the school district will relieve their worries.

What this teacher said and did is horrendous, but while we are on the topic... there is a gross double-standard in the US when it comes to race. Whites are seen as racists as soon as they refer to a minority by race. In contrast, blacks can refer to whites by race and nobody makes a fuss. Here's an example... I was watching a sitcom on TV within the past few months (sorry, I don't remember which one, but it was on one of the networks). I don't remember exactly where the scene took place, but it was a public place, maybe a restaurant or bar. Anyway, an uppity white woman walked in wearing an expensive but the most ridiculous looking outfit. One of the black characters turns to the camera and says "White people" and the audience bursts out laughing.

Imagine if a black man walked in with his jeans hanging around his knees and a white person said "Black people". The next day, Al Sharpton would be organizing a march against the network. Advertisers would all be pulling their ads and the executives would all be resigning.
