I know my husband needs to get a police certificate from jamaica I just have a few questions about it do we have to wait for them to request it before we try to get it?and do I have to send it with the rest of the documents to NVC or is he suppose to bring it with him to the us embassy in jamaica when he goes for his interview?

He needs to have it at the interview. He should be able to request it for a fee, and then go pick it up when it is ready. I think my fiance said it took a week for him to get his back and he is a Clarendon resident, and had to pick it up in Maypen.

My husband just went yesterday. He went to the location in Mobay and was there by 4:30 and still got number 40 in line. He was in Mobay until about 4:00  but he got everything taken care of and it was a pretty smooth process, except waiting in the heat just about all day.

He will pick up the cert on Aug 14th. You will need to have him send it to you or directly to the NVC. it needs to be sent with his 230. My husband will make a copy to bring to the interview as well.....

Hope this is right??

its valid for 6 months. all you need to do is to pay for it at the tax office, then take with him, his passport and 2 passport size photographs. He will also need to know who to address it to that is NVC or as they did with mine "to whom it may concern". Depending on what he pays for it will take a week or 3 weeks for him to get it back. Then he will need to mail it to you. Also let him sign the police record, where his signature is required. If he doesn't sign it hey will required him to do so at the embassy.

Yes he did have to wait in line all day, even though he got there so early. He just had to get the cert ordered for processing. He paid he fee at the tax office in Sav, brought his receipt to the Mobay location. They did his finger prints and sent off the request for the cert. Now he will have to go back to the same location and pick up the actual cert on the 14th. He will make a copy and send me one and keep one for his interview.

Hope this helps....

Lets your other half know to get to Mobay early and that branch is only open Tues-Thurs till 3:00..

when he picks it up it must be sent to the NVC with the IV payment cover sheet, DS-230 Parts 1 and II (of which he must sign part I only) as well as the civil documents i.e. marriage certificate, birth certificates etc.

I did mine in Kingston last week. No stress at all.
