All of us who has gone thru processing know the immigration has always been stretched thin now on top they will have more application to process.

With Same number of agents and more application logically we can come to conclusion its going to be longer wait for everyone.

All we can do is wait and watch see what happens.

Not necessarily. Agents may work longer hours to make up for the additional applications, or a more efficient system may be in place. It is always easier to believe the worst, however.

or a more efficient system may be in place.

Now I know you are taking the piss.

It is all speculation.
Here's your "speculation."
No new [uSCIS] workers have been hired to review the school records, sworn affidavits and other documentation each applicant is required to file. And no funds have been appropriated to pay added processing costs. Officials said the initial budget would be covered by the $465-per-application fee, and as more fees are collected, new staff will be hired.

An application for an undocumented farmworker to apply for legal amnesty under a program signed by President Reagan in 1986 cost the immigration agency $1,130 to process, two members of Congress wrote in an Aug. 7 letter to Janet Napolitano, secretary of Homeland Security.

In the past, not charging enough to review applications has "resulted in an enormous backlog of legal immigration benefits applications and very long processing wait times for legal immigrants and aspiring U.S. citizens," wrote Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa).

On Tuesday, Smith denounced the deferral program as a "magnet for fraud and abuse" designed to shore up Latino support for Obama. "There seems to be little if any mechanism in place for vetting fraudulent applications and documentation submitted by illegal immigrants," Smith said in a statement.

Applicants must mail completed forms and documentation to one of four immigration service centers: in Laguna Niguel; Dallas; Burlington, Vt.; or Lincoln, Neb.

Entire article: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-immigrant-kids-20120815,0,2097285.story

This means that approximately 50% of these illegals' applications could go to the CSC and the VSC.

I'm in violent agreement with the concisely eloquent Boiler on this issue.

I further add to my earlier post (that the illegal parents should be required to sacrifice their long-term squatting on U.S. soil if they wish their children to apply for this) the following: any applicant NOT found qualified for this work program should be deported immediately -- to it matters not where.

These conditions would be so logical that it's hard to conceive how (or why) the program would be set up any other way, except for 0bama's pure political benefit.

And before you retort, please post your own VJ timeline.

Who is going to pay for immigration officer's overtime hours?

$380 = $20 (approx cost to print and mail a 2ix3in piece of plastic) + $360 (24hrs of office/clerical work @$15/hr)

Pretty sure 24hrs billable hours is plenty of time to process one of those applications.

It is usually a safe bet to double hourly costs to allow for overheads, office space etc etc, and then probably triple for benefits, so $45 an hour minimum.

Absolute minimum.

I was talking about opportunity cost, in which case overhead expenses are irrelevant.... But sure, double it. 12hrs is still enough to process that application :)

Judging by the long delays for current proceeding I am not sure there are any opportunity costs. Basically a Family petition sits in a tray for 6 months or whatever now.

I know, that's pretty terrible. I don't think there's an excuse for that.

Harsh_77 asked who will pay for the overtime, at which point I tried to show that the filing fee is good for something. The opportunity cost for overtime is very little (pretty much the electricity used after-hours). Overhead is sunk cost at that time, benefits too. Those will be paid regardless if the IOs work overtime or not, and thus are irrelevant in the equation.

But anyway, we don't have to get into this.

If this is only for children aged 16, how about their parents? If these children are illegal aliens, I don't think their parents has already legalized their stay in US. don't you think this is a good step for the government to have the illegals come out, and identify who should be deported and what not? Just saying...
