Flying buddy pass on tourist visa?

Hey all,

I posted about this about a month ago, but haven't gotten a sure answer. So I'm posting again :)

My Filipino husband has a tourist visa for the USA. A friend is a stewardess and has offered us tickets to fly through her buddy passes (non-revenue, basically standby) as a gift. We will still pay for these tickets, but they will cost less.

Does anyone know, does customs have issues with that kind of ticket? If they do, we'd rather just get a real ticket.

Thanks :)

Immigration Officers have no issues with these types of tickets. Just ensure she prints out your itinerary showing your return plans.

The immigration section of your POE does not care if you both arrived by canoe in the US. All they care about is if your Filipino husband would go back to his home country once his tourist visa expires. For that reason, you should get a round trip ticket for him. I used to work for United Airlines and I am very familiar with buddy passes.

Thank you so much for your information. This is a stupid question, but I must ask, when you say round trip, do you mean round trip through buddy pass or through regular tickets?

Round trip through buddy pass or whatever method you're traveling.

Either way - you have a return ticket in place.

You will be fine coming in on a buddy pass. The only thing you need to be careful is that you leave the US before your I-94 expires. As these tickets are subject to availability, don't wait until the very last day to leave, lest you overstay.
