“The embassy is closed today due to excessive flooding in the streets and concern for the safety of our employees and consular applicants,” Ambassador Harry Thomas Jr. said in an announcement.

EMBASSY CLOSURE – August 8, 2012

The U.S. Embassy will be closed Wednesday, August 8, 2012, due to severe flooding in and around

Metro Manila. Consular services have been suspended in order to keep the public and our employees

safe and dry. For individuals with scheduled visa interviews or American Citizen Services appointments,

the Consular Section will be in touch to reschedule those interviews in the coming few days. For

emergencies involving U.S. citizens, please contact the American Citizen Services Unit of the U.S.

Embassy’s Consular Section through the after-hours emergency telephone (632) 301-2000.
