For Egypt and the NVC process

I did the search thing and got numerous opinions, so lets talk consulate/region specific experience. Since I sent my I130 with really minimal evidence- 2 affidavits and 5 pictures including a couple from the wedding and him and my kids, do I want to send more with our NVC package or not and just go armed for the interview.

When we married and filed with USCIS we'd only met once and married the day after-- he only stayed 2 weeks. Now I have had him here for 2 months with me. They will see that when they review the NVC I presume and I hope that helps.

Opinions, please?

Your case is similar to ours in that we married shortly after meeting in person for the first time. I also submitted minimal evidence because I really didn't have a clue what I was doing. The application doesn't give a list for additional evidence to submit other than what is required. I think you submitted more evidence than we did actually and we went armed to the Embassy interview with a bag of evidence and they only wanted to see one wedding picture out of all of it. In the nearly three years from the time we married until the Embassy interview I only went to Egypt once to live for three months during the summer and that was right before the interview. We were approved just fine. Keep in mind this was in 2009 so things may have changed more recently. I think you'll be fine and bring extras of everything and anything else you think you'll need at the interview just in case.

Much later at the AOS interview I did notice that our file was actually three thick books on the Officers desk. I knew then that even though we didn't submit much evidence they'd gathered several volumes of information on us, but heck even the Officer asked why it took us four years to get to the AOS step and said she didn't need any additional evidence from either of us. I guess that's what all that additional AP/AR is for.

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply. At least I have one opinion to go on. I also sent my I130 before i discovered VJ and its abundance of experience and knowledge.

I do worry because the evidence I submitted does not detail how long we have known each other as friends before our relationship progressed to discussing marriage. I suppose what is destined will be and I will just pray for the best.

Any more experiences specific to MENA are welcome. There seems to be mixed feelings through the forum on the subject of whether its a hindrance or help to add pages to the NVC.

I'm not experienced, let alone an expert, on cases like yours. However, please come with as much evidence as you can to the interview. Even if it takes a suitcase to drag it in.

Good luck!

Don't ever do anything you're not willing to explain the paramedics.

Hehee... and my DH thinks I'm crazy as it is with a big folder packed full of evidence that I sent home with him! He is also shy about including conversations and emails. Can I black out the contents of things so long as the names are included and times? He feels any conversation is personal. I told him if he wants to come back to me deal with it :P and likely they won't be reading every word but skimming.

We didn't frontload our app either. I didn't really know people did that until after I had sent in the app. I followed the directions and only sent in what was in the instructions. The only pics I sent were the passport sized photos of each of us. No other evidence. My husband did take a small photo album and some printed out emails to the interview but he practically had to force the CO to look at the pics. If I had to do it all over again, I'd have frontloaded for sure. If you can send other evidence to the NVC, do so. COs don't always look at evidence brought to the interview. We had AR/AP after the interview but that was mostly name checks in DC. AP in Cairo was probably 3-4 weeks. I often wonder if it would have been less had we frontloaded.

BTW - we married about 10 days after I arrived in Egypt on my first trip there. We had known each other for about 15 months prior to that.

Since the revolution in Egypt, a lot of things have changed. I did front load our petition and got a RFE. At this point USCIS us doing a lot of the leg work for the Embassy. But every case is different. If you get RFE it is not that big of a deal, just send in what they want. If you have a solid relationship, that won't be a problem. I wish you the best of luck. Most cases are being denied at interview. I just recently heard of a case being denied, because the man did not interview well. Which I think that is BS, IMO. Good luck.

I realise we are in Jordan, but I didn't add but the requirements to my I130. Alhumdollah it was approved without an RFE. What we are doing now at the NVC stage to get ready is copies of phone bills, cell phone bills, yahoo chats, and emails. Hubby has the original pics from the wedding and those taken during our visit. So insha'Allah that will be enough!

I am just more worried about AP then I am about interview approval. We knew each other 9 months before I got to Jordan, got married after 3 weeks, both divorced, close to same age, and lots of family support and approval. Insha'Allah it will be enough.

I just wonder how AP will work since one VJ'rs hubby got visa without AP.
