We had our interview at the Washington DC District Office this morning. We got there half an hour early for an 8:15 AM interview. We were called in at around 8:05 AM. The interview lasted about fifteen minutes.

The officer was relatively young and very polite. He flipped through our file and asked a few questions about where we work, whether my wife had left the country at all and the usual "are you a terrorist" questions.

It turns out that the certified copy of the marriage certificate we sent to the NBC last October did in fact make it into the file. My wife saw it as the officer was reviewing the file.

He asked how we met and what prompted us to get engaged once we finally met. He asked me why I asked my wife to marry me and then asked her why she said yes. :)

The officer reviewed our photos and took a couple copies we gave him. We also gave him copies of the Philippine embassy marriage registration, a letter from our landlord, and bank statements.

At the end he said everything was in order and that he is recommending approval. We didn't get a stamp because the case must be reviewed by a supervisor first. He gave us a letter explaining that the case has been continued for review. He said it should be reviewed later today and that we should have a final decision in a couple weeks, with the card to follow in two to six months.

As much as I am happy that the interview is over with, I can't help feeling a bit disappointed, especially after seeing that k3matter and virginian got their stamps last week.

The officer did his best to assure us that this is mainly a formaility, but in my book it's not approved until it's actually approved. I was hoping to take my wife to Europe for our first anniversary next month, but with this delay I don't think it will happen. Oh well... At least they didn't deny the application...

Hi jsnearline:

Good to hear that your interviewed went smooth. And sorry that you didn’t get stamped. I’m sure that the officer who interviewed you were junior and he didn’t have an final authority to approve. Since your interview time was first in the morning and by that time, may be senior supervisor didn’t make it in office. So that officer has to wait till supervisor gets in.

Last monday, officer who interviewd us was looks to us senior., so got stamped.

I’m sure that you will receive approval email within next couple of weeks.

Don’t stress too much…..just celebrate for sooth interview.

it took a few months to get the card.

That's what I'm afraid of, that it will sit on someone's desk for a while. I'll just hope for the best.
