My wife will be interviewing in Montreal on September 4 and I have a few questions!

I will be driving into Canada to attend the interview with her. Can anyone give me an idea of the parking situation in the vicinity of the embassy. I know there is metered street parking outside the embassy but I am more interested in secure, "all-day" type parking without the need to worry about parking meters.

Also, our early plan is to stay at the Holiday Inn on Blvd Rene Levesque an walk to the embassy. Parking at the hotel doesn't seem to be an option and I am more interested in the hotel itself for an overnight stay.

Thanks for any advice you can give us!

I'm sure u can find info on the hotel on http://www.tripadvisor.ca I'm sure ur well aware that they courier ot the visa package and sometimes they get it out right away, and in other cases not so fast. Of course it does not hurt to ask to pick it up the same day or next, all they can do is say no! It has worked for a few!! I'm sure there ae parking garages close to the embassy, always play around on google maps street view and find one!!! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I cannot imagine they wouldn't have underground parking or some type of parking garage, a simple phone call to the hotel should resolve the issue.

Hi! We just recently had our interview in Montreal. We stayed at Le Square Phillips in Phillips Square. Just around the corner from the Consulate - a 2 minute walk. From what I can remember, there is a parking lot in the back of the hotel that's open to the public. It doesn't come cheap though. It's $20 a day if you stay at the hotel! So it has to be like $30+ for the public.

Have a look at Google Maps. You should see the parking lot on that. You might even be able to read the sign for the lot.

Good luck with your interview.

I should note that I didn't see any parking garages....

But maybe they were well hidden? Haha

We had our interview in May and we parked in a parking lot that was super close to the embassy. Looking on google maps it looks like it's the same one that someone else was talking about. It's on Place Phillips just past the Le Square Phillips hotel. It was a big parking lot and I'm almost certain that we only paid $15 for all day parking. It was not gated or secured at all, but you didn't have to worry about feeding a meter. Hope that helps!
