We gave the consulate the sponsor papers, and now they called my husband today to ask if he ever traveled before. he said yes Italy and America, than they said thank you and hang up, but nice person though.

So does this mean they are going to be calling us soon to pick up the visa as we are already approved just needed new sponsor documents to hand in.

What do you think? I am praying so hard!!

thanks so much

That probably mean they are doing some further background checks - nothing else.

Thank you so much kzielu, for answering me! I appreciate it! I thought about that also, as my husband added they also asked him if he ever traveled to arab countries, so that did make me think they are doing background checks. So do you think once they are finished they will call us to pick up the visa or call with more questions? But the weird thing is he already had his second interview and got approved, and they said you only need to bring us new support papers and you can have your visa, so why are we still in review? This nightmare never ends! I live with my husband for one year and seven months now!

thanks again so much, sweetcitywife

Unless they specifically tell you what's going on then you and everyone else can only guess, and guesses often end up being wrong. That's why your thread got several views but few responses. Nobody knows what the consulate is doing.

However, usually when the consulate starts making phone calls then it means they are actively working on the case, and you can usually expect an answer sometime soon. "Usually" does not mean "always", so don't come back here complaining if you don't have an answer in a couple of weeks.

Since they asked him specifically about travels to other countries I'm guessing they got a match between his name and someone with the same or similar name in another country. Whether that's good or bad depends. If someone with the same or similar name was in a country that your husband was in at the same time he was there, and if that person is suspected of being involved in some sort of anti-American activity, then that would be a bad thing. On the other hand, if they uncovered some evidence that he traveled to another country and they're just trying to see if he'll tell the truth about it then that would be a good thing.

Wow, you are very rude and dont you ever associate those words with my husband. It is very very disrespectful as a stranger to use correlations with my husband. How can you turn everything into a bad situation? Please dont ever ever answer my posts ever again!

sweetcitywife1 - your two posts above are unwarranted.

jim is one of the most highly respected members on vj - and by that, i mean in the top 1% - and i have never seen him provide bad advice to anyone.

posts like yours above will cause many members to refrain from ever replying to your questions - if you want to be ignored by members, then continue along this course and see how many replies you get.

if you're dead set on even considering the advice offered by someone held in high regard by a vast majority of vj for his advice, then perhaps it's best if you discover the ignore button.

Sweetcitywife - you really need to improve you english reading skills. He gives you probably pretty accurate assessment of what that meant, and you completely misreading his post. Actually yours is somewhat funny...

I can understand what you are saying, and maybe i did misread, but it made me feel uncomfortable, that is why i said something. As I have never had any problems on this site and i am also a good member of this community. I am also a very positive person, and i try to think positive about people. So I can believe this person is a great VJ community member and was only trying to help me, but maybe the delivery came out wrong, and sometimes when you type the words can sound different.

Anyways, I just want to thank everyone who answered my post and in the future i will just go to the moderator first for explanation to see if i misread the post. I really appreciate everyones help in this never ending journey, and i wish everyone the best and fast and smooth immigration journey.

Thanks so much for your clarification, and have a great weekend!
