Based on your timeline your LPR status started 03/08/2011. You have be be a LPR AND married to the USC for 3 years to become a USC based on marriage. So you have until 2014 and can file 90 days before that date. As long as you meet the residency requirements outlined on the N-400. you can file for naturalization and traveling outside the US is not a problem. Just use your passport and obtain the appropiate visas (those required of a Mexican Citizen visiting that country) and use your GC to re-enter the US.

Good luck,

Dave

Hi keka! :)

You can travel for a month to Mexico with no problem. You just need your green card and passport.

As for ROC, if your green card expires in Sept. 2013, then you can probably file sometime in June 2013 to get your 10 year green card. You file within the 90 days before your 2 year card expires. Are you sure it expires in September? You got your green card a couple months before my husband got his in May 2011, and his green card expires in May 2013. Your timeline shows you got your green card on March 8, 2011.

You can file for citizenship starting 90 days before you became a permanent resident and having been married to the same USC for 3 years.

You can use it in December, no worries. :)

So, if it expires on April 3, 2013, then your 90 day window for filing ROC begins January 3, 2013. Have fun on your trip to Mexico and then file your ROC paperwork when you get back.
