Not sure, my wife's new passport was issued early this year in first week of January and she applied for PCC close to 7 months later. But still got it on the same day. You may ask for the reason at Mithakhali PSK office when you go there to pick up your PCC and update here on VJ. So it may help others as well in future.

Time to send your DS3032 in NVC inbox and be prepared with AOS documents

I called 800 number for passport helpdesk and the lady said that they have not received the clear police report from my local police station and asked me to contact my local police to make it faster if they can. I think the problem here is (just assuming) .. I got local PCC from SP office on 6th Aug evening and I applied for PCC at PSK on 7th Aug morning, so they have not uploaded the required information for PSK to access (may be they do it once a week, fortnight or month). I am not sure whether to just wait or contact local police (people there are very rude :()

Now I am really worried about my PCC. Why did they ask me to wait for 3-4 days? they said that I will receive SMS on my mobile and then I have to collect it. I applied for PCC on 7th August and today is 10th August. I have not received any update on it. :(

This is what i read on the official website (www.passportindia.gov.in)

Q: In how much time will Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) be issued?

A: Please refer the table below to determine the time required for issuing Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) in various cases: S.No. Police Verification Report (PVR)/ Observation in System Service Levels

1. Police Verification Report in respect of the existing passport is clear and there is no subsequent adverse entry in the system

Ans - Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) will be issued on the same day at PSK/ Mini PSK.

2. a) Police Verification was not required when the passport was issued as the applicant was then a minor and has now become an adult

b) Police Verification was not required when the passport was issued as the applicant was a dependent of a Government employee

c) Police Verification process could not be completed at the time of issuance of passport due to various reasons

d) Applicant's present address is different from that mentioned in the passport

e) Any other such cases where passport was issued without police verification

Ans for 2 - Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) will be issued only after completion of police verification process. After PVR is received, Passport Office (PO) will inform the applicant through e-mail/ letter. Applicant needs to come to the Passport Office (PO) with his/her passport to collect Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). Country for which Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is being issued will be stamped on the passport.

I think they asked me to wait for 3-4 days as las time (4th Jan 2012) when I got my passport issued with married name, local police verification was not done as my address in previous and new passport was the same. They issued the passport without police verification. So i think they would require to do police verification before issuing PCC (and as mentioned on their official website).

Please keep in mind that today (August 10th) is a holiday so the PCC offices will be closed for Janamashtami. I believe all government offices will be closed. Next week, Wednesday is also a holiday (Independence Day)as well, just FYI. I would expect you might hear something back on Monday if all goes well.

Hey, I just got SMS at 10pm that my PCC is ready and I can collect it. However, through a refernce I got the police verification done faster even on Janmashtami, Saturday and Sunday. Sunday afternoon the DSP office guy (whom I knew) approved the police verification report online in front of me and I got the SMS on the same day at 10pm that PCC is ready. I am so happy and will collect it on Monday early morning.

Makes sense :) That's the reason why my wife got her PCC on the same day (she already did police verification earlier in January when she updated her middle name with my name) and took few days for you due to pending police verification for passport. Glad things worked out well for you as I suggested

Np :) I just showed you the right path and you had to drive by yourself to reach the destination.

NVC is really slow these days due to large number of quick approvals coming from CSC whereas VSC is on a slow side. Call them every day until you get a case number. My guess is there is a chance you will get a case number at any time in this week.

Any one addres proof

Photo copy & Original (just to show them) PVC

Copy of NOA2 letter (they asked for interview letter, but as I was waiting for it they asked for NOA2 original and I had to say that it was with my husband in USA, so finally they accepted the copy of NOA2)

I went to vijay char rasta PSK earlier but they denied to issue PCC without interview letter or checklist and barcoded letter AND original PVC. But then with the help of a VJ member I was able to get PCC issued at mithakali PSK in 4 working days.

Right now I am waiting for my NVC case number to be assigned and I am ready with all the documents. I have sent the original PCC to my husband in USA and should reach there latest by 21st Aug.

Now I am really worried about my PCC. Why did they ask me to wait for 3-4 days? they said that I will receive SMS on my mobile and then I have to collect it. I applied for PCC on 7th August and today is 10th August. I have not received any update on it. :(

It takes 3-4 days because PSK will transfer your file to local police station to get a "Clear" record from SP office.

You can check the status of your PCC from passport.gov.in and then select ur PSK from where you have applied.

Track the status with the file number provided.

Hope this helps.

Did you get your local police clearance certificate done?

Yes, I got it done twice. According to the actual process here in Ahemdabad we have to obtain the local PVC (Police Verification Certificate) from DSP office (shahibaug), then I went to apply at mithakali PSK. My passport was issued in Jan 2012 (got changed from maiden name to married name) and the address was same as compared to previous passport so I didnt get police inquiry at that time, so when I applied for PCC at PSK instead of getting PCC on the same day i had to go through police verification again. This time i didnt receive any hard copy of PVC (police verification certificate) but the guy at DSP office had to approve it online and next day i got PCC from passport office. I hope this explains well. Ask me if you didnt understand anything.
