Hi VJeyers! We have decided to change our POE from CA to TX after visas have been issued for my family. Just need to know

1) If we can easily do that without having any trouble at the new POE.

2) If we wish to keep the same address as entered on our forms, can we land in another state without notifying the immigration officer as our relatives in California will mail us the GC at our new address in Texas?

3) or if we get the address changed at our new POE, will the the GC mailing process would be as smooth as it should have been in the original POE.

Many Thanks!! :)

Good question!

As far as the process is going when did your address change?

The POE does not matter because it is not specific to your residence. Example.. if you live in a area that does not have an international airport then often people have to take domestic flights. In California my parents have gone to chicago, New York, Texas and one other place before departing on an international flight. Even though our local airport is in San Francisco. They have to go through customs when they transission.

As for as the change of address goes I guess you have 2 options.... depending on how complicated you want to make things. 1. you can try to change the mailing address now and see if it goes through. or 2. just have the mail forwareded to you and then for the next process just change the address. At this point there really is no filing of all those forms going on to register your address its pretty much mailing you the green card.

The USPS will not forward anything from the USCIS--it wil be returned. You could have them received at the old address and you go and pick them up as mailing the GC is also a no-no.

What I mean to say was forwarded by her family whom still reside at that residence.

Thanks!

Yes we have visas in hand and just before our planned departure to California, we have just changed it to Texas. As for the change of address is concerned, we would like to do that once we have our GC in our hands and after that we will officially change our address on-line at USCIS, both by the beneficiary as well as the Sponsor.

As for the GC, our relatives will receive it at the original address and mail us the card to Texas.

Or we could just get the address changed in their systems at POE so that our GC can be mailed at Texas address. But I feel reluctant to do so if this would make things complicated for USCIS and hence delay the mailing of GC.

I believe if there is no restriction of sending GC by courier to another state once received at the given address, it seems like a more viable option to us.. Just the normal procedure as it should have been in the first place!

This POE is somewhat confusing to me. But first what does GC mean? Does it mean "Government Correspondence?"

If I use a relatives address in the Continental US on my I-130 and AOS forms as where we intend to live, for wife's IR-1 Visa, and after her VISA is approved, can she enter the US Territory of Guam on that VISA, without a Guam address?
