Core nursing curriculum classes are NOT open to the general public at any university or community college that I've ever seen. If you are not officially admitted to the accredited nursing program, you don't get to just pop into those classes. I was hand-selected by an entire committee to attend nursing school with a class of less than 100 people out of literally thousands of applicants. Many try, but few are chosen. What about laboratory work? We were required to spend at least 6 hours in the lab every week. Until you had passed a nursing skill in the lab, you were NOT allowed to perform that procedure on a living, breathing human patient in clinical, for obvious reasons. So anyone can sign up for nursing labs there without being admitted into the official program? Practicing medical injections on each other, inserting naso-gastric tubes on each other, or CBGs? That must be an insurance nightmare for that school... Sterile catheterizations, stoma dressing changes, trachs-they'll teach anyone off the street who just wants to learn all that? How inclusive of them, lol.

What do you do for a life?

Anatomy and Physiology, human development, microbiology, mathmatics, sociology, etc...all required for a nursing program are open to ANYONE in any college in the world. ####### off. Where did I say she was not doing lab or clinical work? Because she has already had those classes for other degrees (she has one bachelors and two masters already) she does not have to repeat them for nursing school. Exactly what part of that are you having trouble comprehending?

####### is your problem anyway?

Feel free to continue talking foolishly. You've been hand picked for it.

well, probably because you said this-

Turns out with all her other education and her classes she took to be a medical interpreter she really only needs the clinical part of nursing school to be an RN.

no one has said she didn't have to do clinical work. you yourself said "she really only needs the clinical part of nursing school". to which people replied, that can't be, there are, in addition to anatomy, micro, etc, specialty nursing classes, in nursing theory, that are required. those classes aren't open to just anyone, you have to be a nursing student to attend them and get credit for them. so, you know, she'll have to take those to be a nurse too. so, it's not just clinicals she's doing. even though you originally said that was all that she really needs.

i'm really glad we got this worked out.

There's not much more in this life, as refreshing as skinny-dipping in the open air with yer wife.

Gary, You Rock!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I have to agree. The skinny dipping part. Nothing makes you feel just quite so much like a kid as stripping off yer clothes and jumping off the rocks into a natural pool. Nothing like it on a hot day.

Before I picked her up one day I sent Alla a text...@You know I take you there (the mountains) so you won;t have tan lines" :P

She texted back @Oh, I thought it was to be together enjoy the view of nature"

Many people would use the term 'clinical' to include all those classes on nursing theory, etc. You have lost the perspective and understanding of terms that the lay-person has, now using them only the way you understand from the privileged viewpoint of the nursing professional. A pity! The best doctors and nurses are able to see and understand life, people, and the language they use from the standpoint of the lay person and with many variations. A narrow perspective leads to communication failure and with it, the opportunity to help in healing.

From what I know of Alla that Gary has revealed in this forum, I believe she has the potential to be an outstanding nurse!
