Hello everyone! I have my K1 interview in London in 3 days time, and I just wanted to check that I have absolutely everything I might need. I've got a folder for all my visa related things.

It currently contains:

  • NOA1 & copy
  • NOA2 & copy
  • 2 Proofs of Address
  • 2 Police Cetificates
  • 4 Passport Photographs
  • 4 Visa Photographs
  • Proof of Engagement/Visitation/Relationship

- Contract from officiant

- Contract from wedding venue

- Catering Proposal

- Copy of Invitations

- Wedding Dress receipt

- Engagement Cards

- Photographs

- Plane Tickets

- Copies of Conversations

  • Proof of Financial Support
  • Fiance's Divorce Papers & Copy
  • Copy of Packet 3
  • Passport
  • Birth Certificate
  • Interview Letter
  • Receipt for Payment

I think that's everything I've got! I hope there is sufficient evidence, any other advice would be great. I know not all of this stuff (ie. NOA1, copy of pack 3) is needed but i'm jut taking my whole folder.

Also, I've heard that some people have been asked for evidence that they plan on leaving the country and that acceptable proof is job termination, rent termination or plane ticket. I don't pay rent, I've been in college (not working) and it says on the embassy website not to arrange any travel plans until after the interview... but if I might be refused because I cant prove I'm leaving, might it be an idea to book tickets anyway??

Sorry for the long post! Hope you all are having a good day!

Here's the list of documents required which is on the London embassy website!

http://london.usembassy.gov/application_documents.html

Third up from the bottom

Evidence of Support (Affidavit of Support): All applicants are requried to establish that s/he will not become a public charge in the United States. Please note that this evidence must be less than one (1) year old when presented at the visa interview. Please follow this link for more information.

Hopefully you just missed it off your original post!

The bit about showing evidence that you intend to leave was in a thread where the USC was also living in the UK. They were doing DCF and needed to show intent to re-establish domicile in the US. You do not need to do that.

Good luck. I am sure you have more evidence than you will need for London.

Thanks so much everyone! Yes I have long and short birth certificates. In terms of the affidavit, I looked on the embassy website and it just says it may be requested if other evidence in insufficient. I have two pay checks showing monthly income, and I am going to get Adam to fill out the affidavit and scan it to me... I hope it'll be okay that it's not the original??

Ok your packet four letter will send you to this link

http://london.usembassy.gov/visaforms.html

and tells you to look at IV19

IV19 is here http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/164203/cons-visa/iv19_fiance_appt_letter.pdf

and says

... you must bring your originals with you

So that does seem to confirm that you will need the original signed copy by your USC petitioner

The Documents required for the interview section says the following

All other applicants must show evidence that they are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. Use of the form I-134 is an efficient way to provide this information to the Consular Officer.

It seems to suggest that you don't have to use the I-134 but you must provide evidence to show you won't become a public charge. I don't know of anyone who hasn't handed an I-134 though.

I would suggest you get your USC petitioner to fill one out and get it sent to you asap. If you do get a 'soft denial' (As in, "We can't issue you a visa until you send us this" then the sooner that this document is in your hands the sooner it can be in theirs.

Well the issue is,my interview is in 3 days and even if my fiance posted it right now it could still take 5 working days to get to me! :-/ I just hope the evidence I have is sufficient!

If he can get something to UPS by 3pm, they apparently can get it to you by wednesday. (DHL might also get it to you in time but UPS can do time sensitive deliveries)

It is possible you will receive a 221G denial, this means you won't be given the visa at interview but they will request you send them the further evidence.

I honestly hope that you don't get denied as it's extra time and hassle and I hope your evidence is sufficient. I really do. !

Hi! This is what I took to my interview;

-Visa fee receipt.

-Interview letter.

-Divorce papers and copy.

-Long birth certificate and copy.

-(Sons birth certificate, translation and copies).

-Police certificate and copy.

-(Spanish police certificate, translation and copies).

-(Court custody/consent order for my son and copy).

-I134, W2, tax transcripts, pay stubs and employment letter.

-Spare copies of forms.

-2 visa size passport photos each for me and my son

-Passports

-card to pay the courier

Stu4lee had a request for more relationship evidence so I took;

-Photos....2 albums plus 12 photos taken on fiances last visit in April.

-Skype call logs

-email logs (haven't got as many, as we skype twice a day and text).

-Cards, letters, boarding passes etc

-old passport, which has all the stamps in from my 5 trips over there.

I would take your relationship evidence with you, but none of mine was needed. She did ask if I had my old passport with me, I took it out and slid it under the window, she didn't look inside it and just slid it back. (I got a new passport in May)

The evidence that you plan on leaving the country is more for the spouse visa. I was just asked when I planned on travelling.

Make sure you have a photcopies of everything.

I'm with photomile, you need your I-134 and it has to be signed by your fiance and posted over (you need his original signature not a scanned copy). On that form your fiance has to sign that he will support you. They asked me for this at the first window along with a letter from his work. At the interview I wasn't asked to show anymore fiancial evidence as my fiance earns way more than is needed(w2, pay-slips, tax transcripts).

HOWEVER, if you don't have this they will probably issue the visa (if there happy with everything else!) after they have received it from you as photomile said.

AND... remember every applicants case is slightly different. Some people are asked for more evidence, some aren't.

Good Luck :)

I had my interview last week, I actually had the wrong affidavit of support, the man questioned it and said it was the wrong one but the counsellor may pass it. I had a bit of a panic but at the interview the counsellor never mentioned it. I have no idea where my fiance got the affidavit from but it was signed and an original.
