I am getting my spouse set for medical examination pending the interview date. Please I was just wondering if any Nigerian VJ will give me the details of the steps to follow when my spouse will be going for medical examination. Do u walk or just call any of the two clinics and schedule an appointment. How many does she have to visit the clinic for the medical examination? Please advise.

These instructions will come to her from the Consulate. She will need to most likely call after she gets her letter, and its usually 2 separate trips for the medical. One for x-rays and vaccinations, and another for the physical. They may give her the results that day or she may need to make one more trip to pick them up. She is NOT to open the sealed envelope, or the Consulate will not accept it.

She should also find out the payment information, and pay to the bank keeping her receipt for proof of payment, she will need it the day of her appointment. Also w or 3 passport pics, please check Consulate website for the actual number, I cannot remember at this time. And make sure they are of the US style, white background if I am not mistaken.

Hope this helps, and I hope I am correct in my info. Please double check so I am not misinforming you :)

That should read 2 or 3 passport pics, and she will also need her passport and medical letter she receives, unless they have changed how they do things...

As for the letter, it came to us via email, we printed it and he took it with him.

As well as the appointment letter for his actual interview. Printed and brought along the day of his interview, not to the medical.

Ok.. If you haven't done the medicals yet here's my input in addition to the useful replies above. We did our medicals at The Children's Practice. 25 Raymond Njoku Street. Ikoyi. Lagos. Raymond Njoku Street is off Awolowo Road Ikoyi. Here's what to expect on arrival: the office for the first step in the medical is directly opposite you as you walk into the gate of the hospital. The front desk lady collected copy of data page of passport with 2 passport photos stapled on it(you also need to bring your passport book in addition to the photocopy bc at every step of the medical the attending physicians asked for it), then she handed us a Zenith bank teller to go make a N12,000 payment at the bank which is close to the hospital but on a different street. After payment at bank, we were given a red tag for blood test and x-ray. People go in for blood test/x-ray according to the number on the red tags. After blood test and x-ray, we were asked to go upstairs to wait for physical examination. Now, your spouse needs to go with some extra monies bc the next fees which will be paid in cash at the hospital will depend on the doctors findings and medical history of the applicant. I pointed this out bc the day we went, some applicants had to go home and come back bc they didnt bring enough money as the fees after physical checkup ranged between N8,000 to N30,000. Now, this depends on your discussion with the physician. In our case, the second fee was N16,500 for 3 vaccinations. After physical examination and the second payment which is in cash at the hospital, we were given a yellow tag for vaccination. Vaccination completes the process and collection is in 2 business days at 4pm. The whole process on our first visit lasted up to 4 hours. Collection lasted only a few minutes. All receipts of payment should be kept and brought to the hospital on the collection day bc they asked to see ours before giving us our results. Hope this helps so your spouse doesn't keep asking "what's next?" like we did... lol

"Good evening,

We treat both Adults and Children. No appointment just come any week day before 2pm.

Fee is #22,000 + or - #9,000. Call 07065859845 our voice mail for more detail.

The Children's Practice Ltd.

25 Raymond Njoku Street

Ikoyi, Lagos

Nigeria

+++++++++++++++

All correct fees are #22,000 + or - #9,000 so come with #31,000.You also need to bring 2 copies of the photo page of the passport as well as bringing the original."

Result of my email to the clinic. So my beneficiary will go with #35,000 just in case.

My current bone of contention is that I work for a hospital here in the US and can get all required vaccinations for free. Not sure if I should do it i nNigeria or wait till we'r ein the US.

Hi Gowon, based on what I saw on the day we went to the Children's Practice on 25 Raymond Njoku Street, I want to say that they don't have any fixed fee after the first N12,000 which was paid at Zenith bank. There was a lady whose vaccinations alone totaled N30,000 and that was excluding the N12,000 paid at the bank. There was another man who came down complaining that the doctor said his blood pressure was high and wrote out an additional test he needed to do at the hospital for N10,000 to determine the condition of his heart, this man's total fees was N38,000. All I can say is go with enough money... there were people who spent only N20,500 for everything and some others paid way more. I'm thinking the doctors determine the number of vaccinations the applicants need for the passage after the physical examination and questions.

Thanks for the information. I like hearing rfirst hand experience such as yours.

Isn't the vaccinations totally voluntary as far as the Embassy is concerned until AOS time? Or the Doctor can determine a compulsory vaccination?

Did you process a K1 successfully via Lagos? I have some questions if so.

Ans: From our experience the doctor determined the vaccinations after asking questions on medical history and physical examination. We weren't given any options to choose from and we didn't ask further questions.

Ans: Our case is IR-1/CR-1 not K1 and our interview date is scheduled so we preparing for the interview
