Hi,

We got married in June 2012. I, the petitioner USC is at the moment unemployed and living with my husband in Pakistan. I have the I-130 ready. I also have a permanent address in the US. Currently I am not employed in the US therefore my brother who lives at the same address as mine (in the US) will be the joint sponsor. I want to know exactly how to proceed with this.

Thanks

It is really a simple process, I am doing the same at the moment. Your brother must fill out an I-864 form as well and produce the last 3 year tax returns along with a letter from his current employer. You are still required to fill out an I-864 form as well, but if you weren't required to file taxes the last 3 years, you attach a letter explaining this to your I-864 form.

Thank you so much for the replies. however if its worth mentioning that I had been working till 2010 and have the tax returns available for that. though at the moment i am unemployed and living here in pakistan with my husband until we can travel together with his ir1/cr1 visa. so i fill out the I-864 as unemployed with a letter explaining that I am unemployed but I will be looking for a job soon? and that in the meantime my brother will be the sponsor?

you would have to write a letter explaining your situation. Have you worked in the past? Did you file tax returns before?

yes worked for 5 years at BoA till 2010 and duly filed tax returns but been unemployed and dependent on my brother since that time onward

Syeda is right. You should also provide your pastv3years info. Its not a requirement but shows you are being a good citizen and filing taxes. One of the things that comes up in a FBI record check is financial obligations something like a credit check . If your credit is good chances are they will not give you a difficult time.

Even tho you don't have a job you would still be the main sponsor filling out the i864 and your brother would be the co sponsor but also filling out an i864

completed with last three years tax returns (for both) /letter of employment with paystubs (for your brother) or letters explaining why you werent required to fill out a tax return (for those years you didnt do a return)

if you have a bank acct then I would say online. NVC told me that was the fastest but then again we used a bank acct in Bangladesh so look into it to see if that possible. All you need is the acct number and the routing number. You can go on this site for more information http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3906.html you will also need your invoice number.

from pakistan the best method of payment is send foreign currency demand draft, its soo easy just visit any near foreign exchange , give passport and i 130 form copy and make this demand draft on the petitioners name.this is recomended and less chances of payment problem.

I am talking about the payment I need to make to USCIS for the I-130. Is there no online link for that?

Thank you seems quite reasonable.
