Do not plan wedding?

We have the idea of getting married about 2 weeks after she arrives. This is the plan and will be the answer if questioned. As others have mentioned, it is a standard disclaimer protecting the US govt. and warning you not to make any plans that could have severe financial and emotional repercussions until your visa is in hand.

Sorry that I open yet another topic in one day but this question doesn't fit in my last one.

On the receipt of the form I have to send to my Consulate in Amsterdam the following statement is made:

How do I interpret this? I thought it would be a safe bet to set a date for the wedding after we get our NOA2 and that it would be especially safe to set a date if we know the interview date.

How do you guys do this? Did you set a wedding date before or after the interview. If before, did the interviewer ask about this? I'm not willing to lie, so if it's wise not to plan anything, then I'd rather not plan.

I can't help but think my last sentence was a bit cryptic : o)

you are not set. Its like poker the best hand wins.

Most people will tell you on here "OMG DO NOT SET YOUR WEDDING DATE YET!!" and hey, i do understand why they say it... but i personally set my wedding date when i found out we were engaged... like most 'ordinary' couples do. We got engaged in mid-July, set our date almost instantly for May 19th, made sure we had an opt-out/change date clause with ALL of our people (venue, food, photographer, DJ, etc.) and applied for K-1 in the beginning of August. We had one bump along the way but we still managed to get him here over a month before the wedding.

What they told you is just basically standard- if you want to set your wedding date right now, go ahead. just be prepared for a plan B if something were to happen :)

Oh and the interviewer did ask and my husband said "Yes, our date is May 19th" and had no issues
