When all is said and done cultural norms can be very confining, even give a sense of bondage to a set of rules someone said you have to adhere to.

I am too much of a free spirit to allow myself to be defined by traditions and norms and so are countless other

Nigerians, especially this generation.

I choose my own destiny and happiness over village tradition and mindset. Colonial masters, the idiots, never understood Africa and today even those very closely associated with Nigerians still don't understand the individuality of Africans and put them all in a box with a manual and directions for use inside. Then they close the box tightly not allowing for intelligent

choice of the individual among many. Stereotypes have evolved and if you are here to tighten them I am here to break them.

Surrogates may work for some if they can truly embrace that choice as their own and not feel like a helpless victim

to tradition or fester anger underneath that decision and project it onto others.

There are also millions of poor orphans that need a loving family. There are options. There are always options for couples

with age difference. The term "barren woman" is really a crude and crass term and countless African women suffer under that stigma of village thinking. Time for change of mentality and support free thinkers.
