EU Citizen parent to US Child

I'm an Irish national who is the father of a US child under 21 years of age. My child's mother and I separated before the child was born as she decided to raise the child herself without me in the US. She took her mother's maiden name and I am not on the birth certificate. I'm now a long-distance dad and would like to live and work closer to my child. I was wondering what my options are regarding these circumstances.

The child can petition for you when s/he turns 21. That's it.

He can file for you after he is 21 years of age. Also, proof of relationship will be required. Other than that, options are limited.

I disagree, there is a whole alphabet of different visa types that may be suitable.

Investor or Work come to mind.

Work Visa, well you need a job and an employer to Sponsor you.

Yep. Depends on your field etc. I would start looking into that. In the meantime you can apply for the diversity lottery in a few months.

It is likely that if she files for you a DNA test will be requested.

You should do some research to find out if your name can still be added to her birth certificate. Her mom may have to assist with getting it done.
