Medical in Australia before interview

Hey guys,

We just received out NOA2 yesterday, and I was wondering if anyone going through the Sydney Consulate knows whether it's possible to have the medical examination done before NVC sends the package to Sydney, or we have to wait until a case number is assigned?

Thanks!

You might want to wait because the visa is good for 6 months from the date of the medical exam

If you're going through Australia please change your flag to Australia as that enables people to give country specific advice and search for county specific topics.

Your medical depends on what state your medical is done in. I suggest you call the doc in qn and ask them whether you need to case number. For Melbourne's doc I didn't (but that was 2009).

No it's not. Medical is valid for 12 months. The visa will be valid for a max of six months or shorter if it's less than 6 months left on the medical.

The Melbourne doctor doesn't need a case #. I'm having medicals done there at the end of the month. I've chosen to get them done early so I have all my papers ready for packet 3 whenever that arrives. I know my choice may be risky if there is a hold up with NOA2 but for me it's worth the risk. :)
