Post Decision Activity

I lodged my I-130 about three weeks ago (spouse), and received the electronic notification that they'd received it. I realise that that just means they got the package, not that they've approved anything.

Today, for the first time, I went online to the USCIS website to check its status. It said that my application is in 'Post Decision Activity' and said:

On August 2, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

Does that mean the petition has been approved, and the next thing I'll get is the notice to get together stuff to be forwarded to the Sydney Consulate? If that's the case, how long do I have to do so? We're a bit surprised by the short timeframe - three weeks before petition approval? We were prepared for a wait of at least some months!

Congratulations yes that means you are approved.

But you have quite a few things to do before you get to consulate. You still have the NVC to get through. Filing ur Affidavit of support and the immigrant submitting some documents like birth certificate, police report.

Go to the NVC august filers thread. The first 2 post full of links and guides very helpful. You have maybe a few weeks before case gets to NVC gets logged and you get case#.

I am on phone so can't tell if u filed DCF or petitioner living abroad which could speed u through NVC maybe. But read those guides.

And again WOW 3 weeks congrats.

Congratulations ! one of the fastest approvals for spousal visa - in 3 weeks time only. Wow! unbelievable --but its true. Now, prepare docs for the NVC stage ! Good luck and God bless!

Okay the NOA1 is the notice of action (I-797C) u received from USCIS when they received ur petition. The notice date is what u use in ur timetine.

The NOA2 date was ur date of approval.

There's no way to predict NVC has been rather slow with IR1/Cr1 and u may be there at least 2 months before u even r ready to be in interview queue.

Since u r living abroad I don't know if that will place u in the faster queue or not.

Since u were approved July 18th u should starting monday be calling NVC who knows they may already have ur case# assigned so u can start ur paperwork. Good luck and congratulations.

i received my approval 13 july 2012 and im still waiting for NVC to assigned a case number. nvc can take up to 20 working days to assign a case number.we cannot proceed any document with NVC without having that case number. lets us hope to hear from them soon

These are internal (to VJ) tags....

both are the I-797-C formletters - there are two that we track here..

NOA-1, the receipt notice.

NOA-2, the approval notice.

Basically, for 'official dates' here at VJ - use the dates printed on each formletter - not the date you receive them.

If you used the G-1145 when filing the I-130, is ok to use the electronic notification dates, as mostly they match with the dates printed on these two formletters.

NOA is acronym for 'notice of action' .
