but I am not sure which Department or Service Center we should make the check to?

I checked the instructions for the I-751 form, and it says there to make the check or money order payable to US Department of Homeland Security (don't use abbreviations)

Here's a link to the USCIS website with links to download the form and filing instructions

Another question comes to mind. Who should write / sign the cover letter; the USC or the LPR spouse?

The example cover letter on VJ shows a USC filing for the LPR spouse and the step-child. I thought I was filing for myself this time around (unlike the K1 and AOS processes).

Hello Friends!

I didn't see this thread -- I created a Nov one -- will try to delete it. Our 90 day window opened August 8th. We also received a letter from them to file for ROC. We mailed our packet August 10th to CSC. Can't believe two years passed so fast. : )

Is there a way to track your application...?

Who should write / sign the cover letter; the USC or the LPR spouse?

The example cover letter on VJ shows a USC filing for the LPR spouse and the step-child. I thought I was filing for myself this time around (unlike the K1 and AOS processes).

I assumed that it was me (the LPR) that should sign the letter. Again, referring to the I-751 instructions, under the heading "Who may file form 1-751?" the information states "If you were granted a conditional resident status through marriage to a U.S citizen or permanent resident, use this form to petition for the removal of those conditions."

Based on what that says, I understand it to mean that I, being the conditional resident, should be the one to fill out the form, and therefore, the cover letter (which is included as part of the application) would be signed in my name.

Is there a way to track your application...?

I've been wondering about this myself --- however, if you go to the USCIS website you should see on the page there a "Case Status" area with a box to enter your receipt number. I'm assuming the receipt number will be included on the NOA1, so once that arrives it may be possible to track the case through the website.

Someone that is a bit further through the process might be able to clarify this. Currently, I'm just sort of going on assumption.

Thanks,

Neither. I intend to submit greetings cards from family and friends, but will not be asking any of them for letters and/or affidavits as I was uncomfortable with the idea that they might be called up in front of an immigration judge if there was a problem with our application. Not that I expect there to be a problem with our application-but I just felt awkward putting them in such a position. I hope the greetings cards will be sufficient.

Letter from friends

vs

Affidavit from friends

Who is doing/did which one....

Thanks,

We have a lot of cards from family and friends(christmas, birthday, thank you cards, invitations).

About the affidavit do we really need to sent those?I do have 2 but i am confused because the stamp from the notary is not on same page with the letter, but on a second blank one.Is that a problem?

Second question do we need to send wedding photos too?We already sent those first time..i am confused here!!

Was briefly sidetracked but we have the packet ready to mail today! I'm taking it to the post office during lunch. I'm anxious to get this show on the road!

Another question comes to mind. Who should write / sign the cover letter; the USC or the LPR spouse?

The example cover letter on VJ shows a USC filing for the LPR spouse and the step-child. I thought I was filing for myself this time around (unlike the K1 and AOS processes).

We both signed it - we figured since it was filed jointly, couldn't hurt, and you both sign the I-751. I'm sure it doesn't matter much, really.

We did this too even though we had plenty of other evidence. The USCIS directions for the I-751 didn't make it seem optional to me (even though obviously lots of people on VJ have gotten through without them) so we asked a few people and everyone was happy to do it.

Also as for pictures, I did include 2 from the wedding. We didn't send any evidence with our AOS packet at all except for the marriage certificate, obviously, so they don't have anything like that. We sent a few pictures from the day of the wedding to present, spread out over the years.

I am a little worried. I got my green card in August 2010 and the officer said that we would receive an invitation for the 2nd interview 2 years later (2012). We moved in March 2012 and i filled the form to let Immigration know that we changed address and by July i still hadnt received an invitation so i went to the Chicago office where they told me i need to fill the 751 form which my wife and i did. I sent the package by August 4th and they still havent cashed my check.

I went back today and they said it's normal and that i need to wait but i dont know what will happen when my GC expires and i still dont have a receipt from Immigration.

I got my NOA1 in the mail. Can some tech savvy person please update the list? :) My receipt date was 08/07/2012.

To answer some of the questions asked:

- We did not send any affidavits

- We both signed the cover letter since we're filing jointly

Brachicago, when does your card expire? I sent my package the same date as you (express overnight) to VSC. My card expires 4 days from today so I was doing this last minute. Never got a reminder anyway. If you don't receive your NOA1 soon I would make an Infopass appointment before your card expires!
