I got RFE which I responded last month but nothing since then....I even lost 3 job interview because I couldnt show my new green card...This is killing me now!

You can legally still get a job now, an employer cannot refuse you for that -- you just need to show the notice that they sent you when you applied for your i-751, saying that your conditional status is extended for one year.

I changed jobs with that paper and it was not a problem at all. Please don't let this stop you!

Are you sure! During my interview the lady said that they are only dealing with non expired card....and it was writing on my form that I was disqualify for not producing valid INS record which is passport,card or naturalization or birth certificate......but I was given grace to continue as soon as the card arrived at the last job which start with 7 week training at police Academy!

Of course! It says so directly on I-797 letter they sent when you applied for your ROC. The paper is all you need to work and to travel in and out of the country. It says so directly on it. You can also look that up in many places. I showed that paper with no problem -- changed jobs, and I work at a very large company. I have also crossed the border with it twice.

Thank you guys .....I explained to the lady but all she want is the card....Finally,the Manager said I should call to continue my interview as soon as I get the card.She told me that the request is from Police Academy requirement....

Deys, they are unfortunately mistaken to prohibit you from continuing your interview and they can get in big trouble for that.

And everyone else, I hope your approvals come quickly, interviews go well (INTERVIEW? I can't believe they called you in for an interview! GOOD LUCK!), and that the green cards show up post haste!

BTW: John's greencard has been here for almost a month now, and TODAY is the first day I received any text messages about his status update on the USCIS website. Three of them, back to back, that there has been an update. Sheesh. I looked, and nothing changed from the day his GC arrived. Silly silly.

Yes, you only need the expired green card and the letter.

The police academy management really is uninformed (ironic?!) and cannot legally stop you from working. I wish there was a way to have them believe you! Would they maybe look at that link I posted?

You could try making an info pass appointment at your local USCIS office and see if they will give you a stamp in your passport. Explain your difficulty with employers believing the letter.

Yes....I was to be hired by the state govt (just don't want to mention the state for security purpose) and send for training by police Academy...Am not saying there are right but just to narrate all mess am facing because of the new card process...I don't know what we are renew in a status that took a full year...that look some how any way!

Getting really nervous now. We responded to our RFE on May 4, 2013 and haven't heard a word since. In fact, there's been almost no activity for August filers at the Vermont Service Center since early May, with the exception of a single person whose ROC was accepted.

We just made flight arrangements to go back to the Philippines, which is exciting since my wife Karen hasn't been back in the 3 years since she's been in the US. But now we're getting a little worried that we may not have a new green card by then. Not only that, but the I-757 was issued in November 2012 and only extends the green card for 1 year. Will USCIS give us a problem letting Karen re-enter the country when we come back on Nov. 25 with only her green card and the I-757?

I just called the USCIS today, and they are doing a service request since it's been more than 60 days since they received our response to the RFE. Hope that speeds things up!

I did a service request on Friday and got a responce today via email. However nothing has updated, both USCIS phone and Website still say that im in initial processing so we will see if it's true
