Pittsburgh interview

Hello,

My wife and I have our AOS interview appointment in Pittsburgh on November 16th. This process has gone really quickly for us, it will be only 2 months since we first filed that we will have our interview. From what I hear this is very fast. But now I am a little worried. I only see horror stories on this site about long waiting periods for FBI name checks after the interview.

Are these experiences exagerrated?

Does anyone know how long the average wait is for the name check from the Pittsburgh office?

Is it possible that the name check may be done before we interview?

My wife is from Poland and this is her first marriage, no children. Shouldn't be a complicated name check....right?

The check is a domestic check, as well as international. That's what slows things down. They take her name, spin it around about 50 different ways, and check for 'hits'.

If it's only been 2 months since you filed for AOS, I'd say odds are high that her namecheck will not be complete.

The Pittsburgh office is very efficient and organized. They don't have a huge load of customers by virtue of the area they service. Because their caseload is lighter than some areas, it's not unheard of for petitioners in their jurisdiction to have an interview early in the process. They also keep good track of cases and know who is still awaiting namecheck approval.

If you do get stuck in namecheck hell, I can confidently say that you are in one of the best offices to get stuck there at!

Thanks for the quick response. I have another question. Why do I see most people get their green cards less than 30 days after the interview? They must not be interviewing in the Pittsburgh office?

There's an awfully lot of us here who are waiting....and it has nothing to do with Pittsburgh. People are waiting around the country for namechecks. I was only suggesting that since you just filed 2 months ago, its very possible the namechecks won't be done.
