I posted in the updates thread, but I thought I'd ask the broader audience if anyone else has experienced this and what the outcome was.

I received receipts for all of the items in our package except for the work permit. The number just before my lowest number and just above my highest number are both someone else's GC applications, so it's not just the result of neglecting to send the message/email for that particular form.

Any input?

Is there any chance that the way you assembled the package, the I-765 could have gotten stuck in the middle and they missed it?

I received a rejection notice for the I-765.

One of the problems is that we forgot to sign it. :whistle: Duh.

The second problem that they list is that the check amount is incorrect or not provided. I thought there wasn't a check for this form when filing concurrently? Our two checks from the package cleared today.

Any advice?

Hmm...that is weird...I don't mean the signature....I thought the same thing that you say that if you file concurrently then you only need to write a check for the I-130 and for the I-485. Now, I'm a bit confused too...want to see what others have to say about this as I'm about to send in the package myself as well...

Sign your application, and make a copy of the I-485 receipt to send with it.

There is no way they can charge you if you already paid for I-485

Resubmit your I-765 with a copy of your NOA for your I-485. This will show them that no fee is required for it.

Since they have already (mistakenly) dinged you for not enclosing a fee, I would write a small covering letter citing the part of the instructions that states no fee is required when filed with or after an I-485 filing.

Yep to the above! Your new EAD application will get matched up with the others, but you must submit a copy of the NOA1 for the I-485 (a copy! not the original!).

Is it okay to just quote the receipt number for the I-485? I don't have the EAD yet and would like to get it sent off. I called the USCIS help line and the guy said the receipt number should be sufficient, but if you all advise otherwise, I'll wait.

No, you MUST send a copy of the first Notice of Action with the new EAD app. The hard copies should be coming soon and it will not affect your overall timeline (EAD will get matched up with AP and get approved at the same time it would have without the error).

You will likely have the paper NOA receipts inside a week.

Just get everything printed out and ready so that all you need to do is include a copy of the I-485 NOA and you can literally drop it in the mail the day the NOA arrives.

Whilst it's possible that you could submit it with a simple print out of the receipt number, I personally would not risk a second rejection and would just wait for the NOA which will be guaranteed to work (from their own instructions).

Do I need to print a new I-765 or can the one they returned simply be signed and sent in?
