Hi guys,

I had my interview for k1 visa on the 31st of July in Bangkok. I was given a 221g for a corrective birth certificate and a document that says i am single. The co told me that i had done a good job but he needed those documents. He told me that i didnt need to come in for another interview but I needed to send those documents via registered mail along with my passport and I took care of that the next day.

I am really worried because i have been reading blogs about the 221g and it has confused me even. Could anyone help shed some light on this matter? Someone who has been through a similar experience. I would really appreciate it. i would like to know when to expect the next step.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience

First thing, don't worry. Same thing happened to us. It's not a denial. You gave them what they asked for, so you'll be fine. Here's what happened with us:

You were told exactly what to do to comply with the requirments. You did exactly what the C O asked you to do. Then you went back to reading blogs about other peoples situations and got confused again?

The next step will be to wait until they contact you to return to pick up your passport with the visa in it. What other outcome could there be in light of what you just did? If there was any other problem you would have known right then. The 221g you have should tell you why you got it.

The only problem you really have is similar to what we all feel at this time of the process. I think most of us feel that there must be just one more thing to do because thats what we did for so many months. You have done well just as they said. Now allow yourself to relax and accept the fact that this portion of the journey is over.

They should be getting a hold of you soon. It was just missing documents. Not a big deal.

I would think even with the Thai mail system it will be soon. Once they have the docs they will move forward to complete the visa. Its been 12 working days at this time since you sent it so it should happen soon.

Its possible to go to an Thai post office and buy a pin number that allows you to call directly into the visa unit. You arent suuposed to ask direct questions about your case but if I were you in this situation I would try it. It costs about 15 bucks I think. Tell your fiance you are worth it and he will agree!
