Checking paperwork through VFS-Mumbai

I was recently asked to email in a scanned copy of my DS-230 by the US-Consulate Mumbai. Now my question is, how can I double check that they received it. I tried calling VFS and they said the email and phone center are seperate so there is no way they can check (am I the only one who thinks the people at VFS get paid to do nothing except tell you to send more emails?)

It was because of VFS and their lack of work that I didn't get my case number for over three and a half months despite sending numerous emails and phone calls so I don't want to have the same thing happen with Packet 3 and then not get an interview for my husband.

I know that people who have filed in the US can contact the DOS, now that I have a case number would I be able to do the same? I sent in my paperwork on Tuesday, the same day they sent us the email to download the packet 3 and gave us our case number but I haven't received anything back to confirm they received the email. I sent a follow up mail yesterday (Friday) but haven't heard back yet and I am not getting any automated responses either which worries me. I am so fed up with DCF and not being able to check the status of anything, I am really almost wishing I had gone for filing at the lockbox . At this rate, it may actually have been the shorter route.
