I live in Canada and my fiance lives in Detroit. We're filing for a CR1 visa after our marriage. The only thing we can use as proof of a bona fide marriage from the list is the affidavit. Are there samples available?

Thanks

I didn't send in Affidavits from people, only the list below!

- Phone bills

- Photos together before and after wedding

- Wedding/engagement ring receipts

- Emails, skype and chat records

- Package receipts for stuff you've mailed

- Postal mail and greeting cards

- airline stubs

- Hotel receipts

Remember, the best proof of bona fide marriage is time together!!

Proof of a bona fide marriage is the marriage certificate.

Proof of a bona fide relationship for newlyweds would be your correspondence, time spent together, a few photos, any bills that you put in both names, common address on ID, joint auto insurance, health insurance, wills showing each other as beneficiary, etc.

how do you travel? car/bus/train? do you have tickets? do you guys do to the movies together? eat out? do anything else that generates receipts? I imagine you can get a record of your phone bill? If you private message me, I can send you a copy of the affidavit we used. there are also examples in the VJ wiki

I have been wondering about these joint accounts you mention. How does one do that when you and your spouse live in different countries? He's not here to sign anything, has never been to the USA, has no SS number to open a joint account. Am I missing something?

Remember that each person´s situation is different. Some couples live together stateside (bc the spouse has some other sort of visa), some live seperate, and some of us live together abroad....those that live both stateside or abroad can open accounts together. For those of you who are seperate, maybe someone in that situation can comment.

I have a joint account abroad with my wife, we both use it, me when I visit and her to pay bills, etc.

The exchange rate is good and they gave us ATM cards.

The bank asked for a letter from my bank, her ID, marriage certificate and my passport.

You might be able to research it with his bank...

We drive our own cars to see each other and we don't have any joint bills. Any other ideas?

what about your phone records? I sent mine in....do you pay any tolls along the way when you drive? do you have any sort of scrapbook material (play tickets, etc)? do you send each other gifts? money? snailmail cards?
