Last week I submitted my application packages for both by AoS and my EAD together.

I have been promised a job by someone I know as long as I can get a work permit (EAD) sorted out sooner rather than later, so I came to VisaJourney today to check out the likely timeline for the processing of my application. I went here.

I'm a little confused by the inclusion of the Biometrics appointment in that timeline, as I was under the impression that the Biometrics appointment was something that was scheduled in relation to the AoS application. I was also under the impression that EAD applications were processed rather more quickly than '83 days'. If that's true then I'm going to miss out on a job promise.

What are your experiences - did you receive your EAD quickly after applying?

I think we may have to contact our friendly local congressman again and see if he can't speed the process up for us.

EAD and AOS biometrics are collected at the same time in many instances. When they are collected seems to be somewhat at the mercy of the caseload of your District Office and SubOffice.

Look at our timeline below for a fairly typical EAD timeline.

The guidelines are still posted that you should not infopass for EAD issues until it has been 90 days since your receipt.

There are supposed to have been some improvements made to the system in the last. I guess we, like you, are about to find out if the system is indeed any speedier than it was a year ago. We filed for my husband's SECOND EAD yesterday.

Unfortunately the EAD takes between 70-90 days to be approved ... I to have a job that is patiently waiting for me to be approved as well ...

The funny part is if you get transfered to CSC you could actually get your green card before your EAD which is happening to many K-1ers ... Although you could also get stuck in FBI name check hell and still not have your GC after a year ... It really is a messed up system that is why many are still applying for EAD ...

And yes you still have to have biometrics done for your EAD as well ... My biometrics appointment letter had both my case numbers on it ...

I had biometrics separately. For EAD bios, they just do index fingers and digital photos, and then later for my AOS they did the digital 10 card and digital photo.

EAD bios are usually about a month after you get NOA, and then the approval and card will be another month or 2 after that. Not much you can do about the timeline for EADs until after the 90 day mark from your receipt date unfortunately. Even the congressman wouldn't be able to do anything about that.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card
