I know my boyfriend and I will end up married, but we're doing it early than we would have because of the visa. If the USA had a partner or common-law visa, we probably would have done that. But, here's to marriage!

My husband and I would have happily lived together if there was a partner visa but there isn't so we had to get married. On August 7th we will celebrate 3 years of marriage and we love each other very much. Even though after 3 years we are still trying to get his visa we have no regrets.

I think plenty of people on this board have done just that, marrying someone that they met online and spent a week with in person before getting married. The I-864 comes a bit later in the process but they still signed an affidavit of support as part of the requirements to get the person here.

We're currently enjoying a long engagement... after a (very) short period of dating. I would have dated him longer, if it wasn't for the visa. We met in April and were engaged by November (we lived together in Canada for a few months before getting engaged). But I always swore I wouldn't get engaged without dating for 2 years - we still haven't hit the 2 year mark!

But that being said, this relationship is completely different from every other relationship I've been in, in every single way... and I am completely confident that we are meant to be together forever

My boyfriend and I are actually living together now, we have about 1.5 years living together. So one of those common law partner things would have been great since we almost have 2 years living together. But, oh well!

We love each other very very much and are excited about getting married. But we definitely would have waited longer if we could have.

We got engaged earlier than I thought we would (in December because I thought my parents would see the relationship as more 'real' with the engagement and ring and all)... but our wedding isn't until April 2013 so we are getting married around the time that I initially thought we would. I kind of hate that visa creates decision making that I never thought we would have to do, but such is life.
