hi all forum members..

I am posting for the first time here...

its like 1 year back..

I applied for a student visa the first time and it was rejected....

before applying for the second time, I knew some consular officers full name and pics which I got from us embassy public facebook page...

now, I could recognize 85% consular officers at one glance..

went to interview for the second time.. lucky me.. I knew the officer instantly and his full bio data...

the interview didn't went well... he just rejected me.. I was a little bit angry..... I just pointed my finger to him and said his name "john" actually I was trying to say thanks john.. but it went just 'john' and left the window just few steps.. the officer told excuse me... I just came back again to the window.. I thought he just wanted to know what I was saying.. this time I told..pointing a finger to him.. "john fowler"...

BOOM... all of a sudden the officer shouted "SECURITY" "SECURITY"... at this moment I had already passed the main door.. few security guys came to me and grabbed me bad... they took me to a room and 2 officers came and started to ask question like....

how did you know the officer name? and many more questions... and finally called country police and handed me to them to investigate more.......

i was set free in a matter of 2 hours, the police just asked me how did you know the officer name.. I showed the officer.. i came to know from facebook and so on... I was released.. the polices handled me like a VIP...

NOW TELL ME GUYS.. AM I BANNED???? WHATS MY STATUS IN THE EMBASSY?

Wow - so you were cyber-stalking the people who post on the US Embassy page and memorized faces/names? At what point did you think this was even a REMOTELY good idea????

COs understandably take their personal safety and anonymity seriously. As much as some people think they don't understand that their decisions are life changing for many visa applicants - they are human and get it [granted they may end up cynical and jaded - but I firmly believe they get what they are doing].

Are you banned? Who knows. Maybe give it 6 months and try again. But don't be surprised if you are on a list.

Sheesh - the US bureaucratic system is nothing like the Indian bureaucratic system. What in the world were you thinking??????????

This may be the most entertaining and interesting post I have read on VJ. Good job OP. I don't think any ban against you is in place, but good luck getting a fair interview. CO's can refuse for pretty much anything they want.

Ok let me make sure I'm understanding 100%...you Facebook Stalked the CO/Embassy Employees?

What did you truly think you were going to gain from this? There is a REASON that border patrol/CO's and 99% of Immigration officials are only identified to YOU with a number. Everytime you cross the border, you have NO idea who you're dealing with. Just their ID number located generally on the front of their uniforms.

Their jobs are VERY sensitive and really important. I can't believe you would take someone's sense of safety away from them.

As to your question, I sort of hope you are banned. That's scary that someone would spend time LEARNING faces and memorizing them.

And then pointing your finger at the CO?!?! OMG thats just stupid! I have no idea what you were trying to achieve, but I don't want you in my country with behavior like that! Goodness.

I find it really hard to believe that a Facebook page for your embassy has Names and Bio's of government employees. Nigeria has one, but sure doesn't have employees names and Bio's. Show me where you get that? No way a government body is going to display all that. I mean their names and "bios" as you mention is to protect them from what you just did. Imagine you know "john" and you seem to seek him out. Follow him where his kids go to school in India. Why would you do that? Frustrated, mad but good grief.

Banned who knows but as others say they sure know your name. That IS their job.

The US embassy in Manila, Phil has a facebook page also, but the only picture you see is the Embassador. You don't see any consular officers or Bio's.

Hard to believe you got the info off the Consulate or Facebook page and you had memorized their names....hmmm something just does not add up.

Never even knew anyone who would point a finger at someone to say "Thank You"

I'm not sure you can get a ban for what you did, but I certainly know you won't get a visa

What you did probably came across as threatening and while there may not be a ban (was anything written in your passport?) I think it might be difficult in the future to get a visa.
