I noticed you picked the higher end of the spectrum to make your point. Thats why I previously said age matters. The older you are the more likely you'll remain in the US without the parents, or alternatively live near the border.

live in the parents home country where the parents actually have a support group of friends and other family members ... yea that can be stressful.

I actually picked the lower, clearly from the children's ages it has been 18 years since the parents have lived in their country. Why can't either of you follow what I'm replying to? Why bother replying to me if all you want to do is argue for the sake of it, and not pay attention to the facts of this situation?

Picked the lower? 17 is very close to 18. Still making accusations I see.

Accusations? No, I'm not calling you a communist like you did to me. I'm telling you it has been 18 years that the parents have lived in this country, it is a fact. What is your problem with that?

Then you didn't get my earlier comment. I was referring to you picking an age at the higher end of the scale. For all you know the youngest could be 3 or 4, whereas its less of an issue in terms of adapting to a change of location.

I never called you a communist, FYI, I did however respond to a post you made that people should have things they need rather than want with "Yes Comrade". If you can not take a joke, thats not my problem.

Yes, I know it was a joke. You still said it though. Meanwhile you're accusing me of accusing you of something? I'm not accusing you of anything, I'm telling you facts. Not sure why this is so difficult for you to grasp?

The other children could be 3 or 4 or they could be 16, we don't know. Either way I'm not going to agree with your ridiculous suggestion of deporting everyone because you don't think the parents should have a GC.

Thats factually incorrect. The children are not being deported, they are going with the parents who are deported. Yes you have made accusations personally towards me with the notion that some how I'm not following "the facts". You have also accused me of "not thinking things through"

You haven't thought it through and you aren't following the facts, it's not an accusation, it is reality. I know you're still mad that I didn't find your communist comment funny, get over it. YOU were the one suggesting removing the parents, because apparently you don't think they deserve a GC. You don't work for USCIS and you don't know on what grounds they were granted the GC. The citizen children would go with their deported parents... You've made me repeat this about 100 times now.

No its an accusation. Your entire post is one.

I never said anything about the specific parents in this thread other then I wonder how they received a GC. I DID say I think it would be good policy to grant people brought in as children, green cards, if the parents turned themselves in.

When they turn 18, the parents would have to return home so that the child gets a GC. (Like say 18-24)

Yes? And?

Here are my posts in order:

I think its completely fair for the children, but the GC for the parents? How did they get those? It would be interesting to create a a DREAM act that required the parents to turn themselves in for the sake of the children.

Okay so if you use the 18 - 32 group that pretty much guarantees that won't happen, and even if it does you have an adult sibling. Personally I think they should not be granted any waiver...just my opinion. I don't have sympathy for those who enter illegally, I do have sympathy for their children however.

Clearly I have been talking policy.

Now can you stop side accusations and return to the topic?

There are no "side accusations". The only person accusing people here is YOU. Stop accusing me of things I'm not doing. Your suggestion is ridiculous.

You've made many accusations in this thread Rocks. I'm pointing it out, because it harms the discussion.

2. So many of us got hosed at the consulate for SUSPECTED illegality.

Everyone seems to be focusing on how tragic it would be not to allow legal status for the cases in question, but not one iota of empathy for people going through the ghastly legal immigration maze, and especially those who are denied for arbitrary and capricious reasons.

1986 was a total amnesty program for illegal aliens. That was an enormous signal to foreigners that so long as they could get here illegally, they would get legal status later and avoid all the fees, filings, interviews, travel, etc. - and here we are now with children of the next wave of illegal immigrants getting status. So these kinds of expectations have proved to be correct, and we encourage more of it everytime we do something like this.

I don't care because I am against all these immigration restrictions in the first place. It just irks me that legal immigration is about the most expensive and most difficult way to do it near as I can tell. Four years of fees, filings, cow-towing, and mistakes on their part every step of the way. It took ten months, six service requests, and a congressional investigation just to get an appointment for fingerprints. But they already had her fingerprints! They force you to use their technicians, and they did them wrong. We have made three 900 mile round trips just for fingerprints and we are going to have to make a fourth 900 mile round trip now because after screwing up her fingerprints for nearly a full year, her letter of extension has now expired. 3,600 miles of driving just over their inability to do fingerprints correctly plus all of the expenses involved in travel.

So if you are going to grant people amnesty outright, or grant amnesty to children of illegals, and make it so much easier and less expensive to do it illegally, then what is the fricking point of making it so difficult on legal immigrants?

Did someone get out of the wrong side of bed this morning? Stop pointing your fingers at me, your suggestion of deporting the parents is ridiculous, I'm not going to agree with you. You haven't thought it through, and that is a fact. Stop accusing me of things, it is old.

Unfortunately, your accusations started yesterday, so whether I got out on the wrong side of the bed is irrelevant. You also need to understand the difference between fact and opinion.
