In the context of this discussion consider parents and kids living in the US together. It is separation at that level. It would be breaking up that group.

That's a bit skewed Gegel. It's more compared to parents that are in jail for breaking the law and their kids get to vist once a week or so.

I think so, based on the fact that they have citizen children. I think they should be granted it in this country and not be made to return to their country of origin. Bare in mind that in this case, and in many others, the citizen children will be younger than the children born overseas. So when the older ones reach 21, the others may still be under 18.

Okay so if you use the 18 - 32 group that pretty much guarantees that won't happen, and even if it does you have an adult sibling. Personally I think they should not be granted any waiver...just my opinion. I don't have sympathy for those who enter illegally, I do have sympathy for their children however.

Why not?

How are the children going to see their parents once a week?

You also said you didn't think the parents should have got a GC, but you have no idea how they got it. None of us do, the government decided they could have it so it isn't our place to judge.

How does that vague age range prevent this problem? It doesn't. All people have their children in the space of 14 years?

If you have sympathy for the children you would not advocate separating them from their parents.

I don't get to see my parents once a week. They're five thousand miles away. I see them once or twice a year for a couple weeks at a time. There are people out there who have done nothing wrong at all that get to see their parents even less than that. What's the point of discussing this angle when talking about what to do or not to do with illegal migrants?

Why is that so important? Since the age of 18 i've seen my parents about 2-3 weeks a year.

yup.

The parents should have thought of that before they brought kids into an ilegal situation. They came here ilegally, there should be consequences for that.

Good point. We should never question anything the government does.

We are talking about children... Last time I checked, you weren't a child.

Little do you know.... (I'm still a child at heart)

I see your comment went back the Jail discussion and children. Got it.

lol see edited version, which is clearer

It was the second line that confused me. :P

I'm talking about the article. It says she was 4 and her brother was 2 when they came here. They are 21 and 20. They have citizen siblings who were born here, and so therefore are younger than them. If the oldest was 4 and she is 21 now, what is highest age the oldest citizen child could be would be? What about the other younger child(ren)?
