So you think separating families is the right thing to do?

Well most 18-24 year old leave the nest anyway. With a green card the children can visit their parents and re-enter the US.

"It's just a big miracle," she said. "God does really do big things when you least expect it. It was down to the wire."

Why can the professed Christians not accept that this may very well have been an act of God? This young lady was holding out for a miracle. And God delivered.

It can't be an act of god because they disagree. rofl.gifrofl.gif

So you think it is OK to separate a family? The children that are American citizens also have no rights? You haven't thought this through.

Excuse you. Stop with the accusations please.

There is a clear route for petitioning parents, but again you must be 18.

That is not how it works. You must be 21 and a US Citizen to petition for your parents.

Well, it's an act of God when someone gets terminally ill, dies prematurely, etc. There is an acknowledgement that "God works in mysterious ways" and that one does not necessarily appreciate what God has done right away. Maybe this is God testing the faith of his flock. And if that's the case, then I see them failing in large numbers. And we all know what that means.

It's not an accusation, it's fact. You want to separate families, you haven't thought of the consequences of that.

Sous ... not picking on you ... just a tangent off your post

wonder who separated a family in the first place ... could it be the people who left the home country and illegally came here leaving behind mom/ dad/ g'parents/ siblings/ etc

breaking up a family .. this is a family immigration based website ... i think a lot of people posting here have left home and broken up a family (mom/ dad/ g'parents/ siblings/ etc.)

most vj people have also taken responsibility for their actions.

Have you ever given any thought to the consequences of how much this "goodwill" that you so easily throw around would cost this country and the toll it would have on our economy? Would you be willing to cough up half of yours and your husbands income to give all of these "poor individuals" the help that you insist they all need? And are you prepared to move back to the UK once this country goes bankrupt? You're very free with everyone elses money.

In the context of this discussion consider parents and kids living in the US together. It is separation at that level. It would be breaking up that group.

Good question. Do you think they deserve a waiver?

I think so, based on the fact that they have citizen children. I think they should be granted it in this country and not be made to return to their country of origin. Bare in mind that in this case, and in many others, the citizen children will be younger than the children born overseas. So when the older ones reach 21, the others may still be under 18.
