I would like to add that there is nothing to inform USEM now. Don't complicate process. alternatives are to withdraw but that may make it harder and discourage your fiance, next would be to marry in Phil. . Just be honest with her and if its love it will she will stand with you, plus she needs your support now for the medical and process

Sorry to hear you lost your job at this crucial time! My humble advice would be to inform your fiance and tell the truth and about your situation. Apply for jobs and yes, as someone else said, "don't be picky"... As long as the job is honest and keeps you above the poverty line. Keep your fiance updated and inform the powers-that-be of the efforts you have made to find employment. Good luck with finding your job and God Bless. (F)

my thoughts only....Assuming you had a job with income from last three years that meet requirements and with the last three tax returns to prove income you should be okay. The American consular will make the final interview and ask fiance about you and job. I was with Anne and she asked her and me my work. Never she asked for letter of employment so I would suggest you make all sacrifices to be there for interview. Unemployment income may be more than a job you can find. Just keep your income up. If you have not got employed by interview you can be there to explain and hopefully have a career that that is employable at your income. Do not lie to your fiance. The consular looks for this. When she arrives in US there is still many expenses. Bad way to start. The main part of this journey is starting a new life with a wonderful and caring Filipina, communication and understanding is one of many reasons we took this journey. Good Luck

I agree with everything you said except the part in bold. This is a good way to prove stability of income over time, but does not show CURRENT income. Even if employer letters weren't asked for, something indicated to the CO that you had current income over the 125% mark. Assuming you meant that it should be okay along with current income and clarification to the CO, I agree with the statement. I definitely agree that it would more than likely be beneficial for the USC to attend the interview in this kind of situation.

Hey I want to send my heartfelt good luck to you as this is a tough posiition to be in. I delayed my filing due to being unemployed for the first time in my life and wanting to be financially secure or well over the poverty level when I applied. I don't know what to tell you except I wish you the best. I hope and pray none of us have to go through this during the process.. God Speed and have faith...

Amen

If the question comes up at the interview, then your fiancée must know to respond truthfully. I assumed you already submitted your job letter and tax return transcripts, etc. Even if it doesn't come up, then you're okay until you have to file your AOS. Despite all this, the right thing to do is tell your fiancée and inform the CO during the interview. I'm sure they've seen something like this before. Stuff happens.

Depending on your state and your field, you may be able to find a job soon. Could you find a co-sponsor for the AOS?

...we already qualified for the proof of income...

You haven't proven anything yet. That happens at the interview.

At your fiancée's K-1 interview, the Filipino pre-screener and/or the consular officer will ask your fiancée to submit your recent paycheck stubs. Since she won't have any of your recent paycheck stubs, the consular officer will issue her an MNL-IV-22 (221g). The MNL-IV-22 will require her to submit your recent paycheck stubs which prove that your current sustained income qualifies.

Do you think that's a better time to tell your fiancée (and the Embassy) you lost your job? You seriously don't want to open that can of worms!

Besides, what makes you think that your current sustained income won't qualify? How much income are you going to make this year if you add together the income from your job plus your income from employment insurance for the rest of the year?

if your current sustained income falls short, could you qualify on income plus liquid assets? If not, I'd strongly suggest that you plan on attending the interview with your joint sponsor's paperwork in your hand. Either that, or find a job soon.

If all else fails, keep in mind that you and your fiancée have one year from the date the MNL-IV-22 was issued to satisfy the requirements of the MNL-IV-22. That should give you plenty of time to get a job and gather a few pay stubs.

The evidence of support for K-1'ers is submitted by the visa applicant at the Embassy interview, not before the interview. Are you sure the visa agency sent it to the Embassy before the interview? Hmmm...
