Hey everyone,

I'm new on this forum so have mercy with me.

I have a dilemma, there is a family in the United States would like to "adopt" me, and I put quotation marks because I'm 23 and that's not possible anymore. I am a citizen of Romania. About the family. They're from Ohio, she's in the counseling, he's in the IT. They would like to help me make my dreams come true and they suggested that for that to happen I need to come to them in US. That is a chance of a lifetime and I'm not in position to refuse it. Hypothetical, if I get the VISA (whatever kind that is) I will be needing to find a job, the family would offer me legal residence and maybe who knows, apply for US citizenship. I'm just rambling 'cause I really don't know how all these things work and that's why I need your advice.

Shall you have any questions please ask them.

Thank you.

Well, they can't adopt you. You alrady know that

You don't have any other relatives in the US?

I suggest a student visa or perhaps get sponsored for a work visa

Good luck

Unfortunately I don't have any relatives in US, if I had I wouldn't be posting questions on this forum :-P

Student VISA it's not an option since I don't intend on applying to any studies.

Thanks for the tip on "sponsored for a work visa", I'll try and look for more info on this one. If you any other suggestions I'd be glad to hear them. Thank you so much for your input.

For employment visa, you need to have a US company sponsoring you ( meaning you already land a job with them and they are willing to sponsor your visa)

You may also want to look at "Diversity visa" also known as green card lottery.

To come and live here without any specialized skill or degree the Green Card Diversity Lottery is your best bet.

yeah but as i said, there is one family who would like to sponsor me, can they do anything ? can they help in any way ?

If they start a business and figure out a way to sponsor you for a work visa maybe?

They can't adopt you. They can't marry you (polygamy is illegal here).

Are you female? They could perhaps immigrate to Saudi Arabia and then the husband could marry you? Do you have objectoins to being wife # 2?

Polygamy is illegal in the US. A second wife is not recognized for immigration purposes.

No, they cannot sponsor you for a green card.

The only way they could "sponsor" you is if you changed your mind on studying, and they were willing to pay the (very high) US college fees for you.
