When I talked to operator at NVC yesterday, She said that my wife does not need a police certificate from regional police office but she will need one from passport office when she goes to Interview. When I called today, a different operator said that I would need to submit the Police certificate from police office with DS-230 and take one from passport office to the interview. I am really confused about the police certificates. Does anyone from India know if we have to submit the police certificate from regional police office with DS-230?

Thanks in advance.

or you could call twice a day, record the answers again,

then after 5 days of doing this, take the answer over 50 percent.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

There seems to be a confusion about the police certificate because most countries require it but it may not be the case for India.

there are two types for India - which one being required is tied to the first issuance of a national passport.

also, there's the #@#$ing VFS service in India - they muck everything up for all immigrant visas.

So - get in to the India forum, read the most current 20 pages. There's a weekend coming up, and you have time.

Take Copious Notes !

I was asked to get police clearance certificate with my package IV... Whn i visited the local police office i was told, for visa purpose we are now issuing certificates from Passport office.:wacko: ..(I collected from my district ''thane'' at the new office, It was a one Day work'')

The certificate has my photograph, it clearly states police clearance for travelling to ''united states''.. also they stamp on your passport..:dance:

If there is any other certificate we need, if any of you from India calls NVC or India office...Pls let me know as I have sent one from the passport office in my package IV after asking the operator...''
