skiptex posted a vid of a obviously hate filled bully harassing a worker at Chick-fil-a over his imagined opinion on how the company feels about the Gay community.

I doubt few would disagree they guy was out of line treating this model employee as he did but, should he have been fired for his public actions?

Chick-fil-A is currently in the middle of a controversy sparked by president and COO Dan Cathy's comments about gay marriage. He said that going against the Biblical definition of marriage is "inviting God's judgment on our nation."

Smith has now been fired from his job at Vante.

its not bad language or anything.. he is so smug and feels like he is soo cool to video himself .. the little girl was a sweetheart and had lots of tolerance.. she smiled and gave good customer service the whole time..

I don't know. It was totally legal for him to treat the girl like that (but he's still a jerk), but it's also within the rights of his employer to fire him. If the public was becoming aware of where this guy worked and his video caused a backlash against the company, then I can totally understand and agree with the company firing him. It's not like the government restricted his speech, it was his employer not agreeing with the way he made the company look. So a libertarian should be okay with him being fired since it was not government restricting his speech.

I don't know. It was totally legal for him to treat the girl like that (but he's still a jerk), but it's also within the rights of his employer to fire him. If the public was becoming aware of where this guy worked and his video caused a backlash against the company, then I can totally understand and agree with the company firing him. Yeah he was just a little too personally invested in the skit not to be but ya never know (though with the internet we might find out).

I am instinctively against firing people for such non work related antics but this guys case is a bit different.

-He is an officer of a corp.. which is a bit different than an employee.

- He purposely made it a public affair by posting it on line.

Still I hate to see anyone suddenly out of a job in this economy.

PS: how do you face the guys at the bath-house after you denied you were gay so emphatically as he did..... if in fact he is a Homosexual.

Arizona is an "at will" employment state. Which means that with few exceptions, a company may terminate its relationship with an employee for any reason and with no notice. Likewise, an employee can terminate their own relationship with a company for any reason. This company was well within their rights to fire him.
