Tell that to a lot of the folks on this board who can't even get fast food jobs once they emigrate.

Of course not. They have to be documentally qualified first, and they have to be persistent. Looking in the paper everyday, or stopping by the job center once a week is not enough. You have to be there when an employer is hiring, and that is generally when he is caught short-handed and is looking for anyone willing to work in order to fill the position right away. Or, in the case of Walmart, anyone that is still breathing and can pass the drug test.

Obviously.

From what I read from these folks, they are desperate for work, and I haven't read a story from one yet who says their job search entails merely looking in the paper and the job center and doing nothing else.

All I know is that you don't seem to see any recent immigrants standing in the median begging for money. They are usually standing on Main Street or at the Home Depot or at the local hiring desk, waiting to be hired, ready for work. Of course I do know many folks that complain about not finding a job, but can't seem to get off the couch long enough to actually get a job. "Oh, I filled out an application at _______, and it has been three months and they haven't called me yet," seems to be the extent of their job search.

Anyone who thinks fast food jobs are easy to come by is delusional. In Every.Single.Economic.Downturn. we've had in modern ages, fast food jobs are the first to fill up. It's actually the only trickle down theory that actually works. When companies start laying people off, they start looking for jobs, and often those jobs are a step below where they were before. And when those jobs are plugged up, it just keeps falling down until fast food is all that's left. Fast food places are still hiring, but they have an enormous pool from which to draw. Teenagers are at the bottom of that pool because they're not as reliable as somebody who really needs the work, and you know they're gonna show up on time.

Actually the trickle down effects works pretty good across the board,

I have made money this way and have in turn spent on things which trickled down to others.

Fact is sooner or later we are going back to Regannomics to cure our ill.... it's just a question of how long before we realize the Obama prescription is not going to work.

The question being, why didn't it work the first time around? It has been trickling down for almost 30 years now...

perhaps might be worth finding a pic that fits in the past 30 years then as that photo is about 80 years old.

The pic is quite eloquent and the caption, albeit old, quite adequate. I am happy with it as is. (also I love b&w pics...)

Only problem was the person responsible for her plight was a Democrat whose solution was to involve the country in a world war and pay for it by borrowing from future generations based on Keynesian principles of economics.

I think you guys are missing the main point of the pic, which is the caption, which explains in very simple terms, of which the entire trickle down theory consists. Here it is again. This time pay attention to the caption.

I think you miss the point. Reducing taxes is not giving anybody anything, rich, or poor. "Trickle down" is a pejorative, not supply side economics in practice.

BTW: Blum is a communist.

You need to tell that to the poster to whom I replied. He/she is the one who pointed out trickle down as the solution to all problems in the American economy.
