Hi Everyone - I have read all the guides and forum posts, but could not find this information. I would greatly appreciate feedback from those who have already completed this.

There is mention in the guides that we should submit original or certified copies of the following documents for the beneficiary. How does one go about securing this in India?

- Birth Certificate

- Police Certificate

- Divorce Certificate

Please note that we already know how to secure the original (and in all cases except PCC have the original available), but want to know how to secure CERTIFIED copies of these documents as we cannot submit the only original copy that we have to NVC. The obvious reason is that we would need this for any future requirements including same documents required during interview stage.

My wife is based in Bangalore currently. BTW, we were given two copies of original marriage certificate, so we are covered there.

Thanks

You need to submit all document in original, NVC will send these original document to Indian Consulate, you will get it back durinng interview.

Personally I don't recommend to submit ORIGINAL documents to NVC except Police/Passport Clearance Certificate. We got 10 CERTIFIED copies each for Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate issued by respective government offices which issue birth certificate and marriage certificate in Ahmedabad. Both look exactly the same as original but they have a "Certified Copy" symbol on top of the document with registration office stamp on it. Both these documents were accepted by NVC in our case without any issues. I recommend your wife to check the same in Bangalore if she can get CERTIFIED copies as well from birth/marriage registrar offices.

You need to submit all document in original, NVC will send these original document to Indian Consulate, you will get it back durinng interview.

ORIGINAL documents are very important and sometimes I have seen cases where NVC or Consulate misplaces documents which they ask the applicant to re-submit. CERTIFIED copies are the safe way to provide an authentic evidence.

READ AGAIN?

Dear Sir/Madam - I have read it multiple times and it does not cover this!! It is also generic document and does not cover country specific information. So, I would like to know from someone who has obtained certified copy of divorce court order in INDIA.

Thanks
