Hi All,

So my Fiance in London received her packet yesterday for the DS 156k, DS 156, DS 230, and DS 157. For DS 156K I will need to send her a completed I-134 correct? With a letter from my employer of salary and years worked etc. My question that scares me the most is that I make about $41k a year and I have no savings account, but just checking. I currently live with my parents and it is customary that I live with them since I am the only son. I have read about a "co-sponsor" but I have not seen any instructions on that or have failed to find it, but I did look. I also do not own a car as everything is under my fathers name, and he has a mortgage on the house as well that we all pay. Will not having a savings account deny our visa? Can I show what I have in my checking account? It isn't much but just a couple grand. Please help... Please... thanks!

If you make enough in income to meet the 125% requirement for your household size, then no need to list assets at all. Skip the assets section of the I-134 and leave those things blank. If it is just you plus your fiancee, then you only need $18,912, and you have more than enough. You have no reason for a co-sponsor, unless your household size is 7+ http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

Skip the assets. Leave it all blank. With that kind of salary, London won't even bring up the support. The officer will glance at it and put it in the file.

When sending her your I-34 and supporting evidence, remember to include a New Letter of Intent to Marry, signed & dated. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail. Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview, Include photos, travel documents, emails, etc. from between the time you filed and present. Good Luck to you :)

The I-134 can be included in the package returned to the embassy. The Intent to marry letter, receipt for ring and other evidence take with her to the interview. When you mail a package to her it will save you money on postage if you can mail everything at once :) Yeah, i'm cheap, lol

London is different from Egypt in how they handle the visa part. London gives instructions for your fiancé. They only want her to mail in the forms, despite what the DS-156 says about attaching documents. She will bring all her documents and your I-134 to the interview. They will "attach" them together in the file. She does not need the NOA2 until she files for AOS in the US after marriage. Nobody haas ever shown an engagement ring receipt to my knowledge. Many dont even have engagement rings. Their website says a new letter of intent is only needed if the petition approval has expired before she sends in her forms. Any original document that she wants back from the embassy should have a photocopy with it. They will verify the original, file the photocopy, and return her originals. They provide a detailed list of what is brought to the interview. The UK forrum would be a good place for you to start reading and asking questions to get the London specific answers .
