hello,

My husband got the American citizenship a week ago. He has now a Dual Citizenship (Moroccan & American). Our question is :

"what passport should he prensents when returning to or leaving from our native country?"

I hope to hear from some members with the same case.

Any advice or suggestion is welcome from the others.

thanks

I have dual citizenship with the UK and USA. It has been suggested that I always use my US passport when entering other countries, including the UK, and that is what I generally do. I know other naturalized US citizens, however, who use their British passports when entering the UK.

It seems to me that, if checks were performed, it is possible that a US border patrol agent could take issue if your husband did not have a Morroccan entry stamp in his US passport and this could have ramifications for his US citizenship. But this is pure speculation on my part. Do US citizens require a visa to enter Morrocco?

Congratulations! I missed your news about his oath ceremony---how exciting! :)

First, I encourage you to look at the FAQ I put in the pinned post of this forum; the site from Rich Wales will explain your husband's responsibilities for using his US passport.

For Morocco, as far as the US is concerned, he can enter Morocco on that passport, and return to the US with his US pp. I'd encourage you to look around online for other duals with the same 2 citizenships and see if they have encountered any problems travellig to Morocco on either pp, or if there were no problems.

Yay!

PS: did you find out if he can file the I-130 at Casa instead of in the US? Or still planning to go with the K-3?

You use your UK passport when entering the UK.

No they don't require a visa to enter Morocco, but there are some paper to prepare if they exceed 90 days in the kingdom.

:D

Hi,

As a Moroccan citizen my self, I beleive he can use his US passport to enter Morocco, as kong as he presents his CIN (Carte d'identite National), which is the Moroccan official ID for Moroccan citizens. If he does that, even the 90 days rule will not apply to him.

If on the other hand, he doesnt have, or doesnot want to show his Identity Card, then he has to provide the purpose of visit, and he can not stay more than 3 months, unless he goes to get an extansion visa from the Central Police in Rabat.

I hope I answered your question.
