Except when it's freedom from discrimination, right?

And there is the rub. I don't think Chick-fil-A as a company has discrimniated against anyone. There are laws against that. This is about people being able to voice their opinion without Liberals using the power of Government to silence them. Many elected officials are calling on a ban against Chick-fil_a. That is wrong. I am actually pro -gay rights

If a conservative group of Mayors was calling for bans on their Ice Cream because of their pro gay marriage stand I would have the same reaction.

If you make personal choice to eat or not eat there, great. However elected officials saying that they will not be allowed in their city is way wrong

No actually the line was too long, guess I am not that dedicated.

No Chicken for you.

Come back on the third? Whilst there will be lots of people there - the lines for ordering should be really short, almost non-existent.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

OK, here's a question for you.

If you were a gay person, would you feel comfortable going into a Chik-Fil-A franchise to look for a job?

I wouldn't.

From what I hear he has gay people working for him. Evidently they are not made to feel uncomfortable. If a gay person didn't want to work there then it would be a self imposed discrimination.

Where are you hearing this? I just saw on the local news last night a couple corporate CFA employees who said the opposite.

With all the hubbub don't you thing that if there was discrimination it wouldn't be all over the networks? There would be massive protests and calls for lawsuits. Just because a local news station found "a couple of corporate" employees who says the opposite means nothing. Anyone can find "a couple" of people in any business that will claim anything.

I have no reason to believe they treat their employees unfairly. I, personally, can't imagine working in an environment where I know the company that employs me doesn't think I should have the same rights other people do. That would make me uncomfortable. But to each their own. I'm sure Chick-fil-A treats their employees just fine. To their face, anyway.

if there was discrimination one would think this issue would have already been out of the closet and with the lawyers prior to this "crisis" ...

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

When it comes to something like this it is. People jump on stuff like this the minute an allegation is made.

Heh. That's exactly what I'm saying. You're jumping to an incredible conclusion, that because there's not some kind of uproar, then everything must be just fine and dandy for gay employees of CFA. I'm saying that you might very well end up being right, but you can't make that kind of a statement based on a *lack* of evidence.

No, but it is absence of evidence. And as rational human beings, evidence should matter to us.

And as a rational thinker, you should realize that you can't draw a *positive* conclusion from a lack of evidence.

Until there is evidence to the contrary then the absence of evidence means nothing. Any assumption of wrongdoing is just that, an assumption.
