Hello All VJ members,

This site is great with full of useful information, please help:

I applied for my wife, she is from India and now we are waiting for Interview Date to be assigned. This is a CR1 type of visa. My wife just obtained PCC from the Passport office and here are my questions:

1) Does my wife has to submit PCC to VFS office in India to obtain an interview date or she submits the PCC to VFS office after the interview date is assigned?

2) Our case was completed on second week of July by NVC, is there anyone out there that have got an interview date for Mumbai Consulate?

3) Is there a possibility that we will get an interview date in September?

Every time i call NVC, i get very typical answer, you HAVE TO WAIT, I am tried of waiting.

Please let me know the answers to my questions above, Thanks in advance.

Our NVC case complete was on July 6th and were also still waiting for a interview date, also from Mumbai. Hopefully will be hearing about a interview date within a week or too regarding September dates.

As per my understanding the PCC is definitely not needed "in order to obtain" a interview date but does get needed at some point before the interview itself.

Good luck

Hello,

my wife will also be applying for PCC, could you let me know what documents are required to get PCC and how much tim it took.

It can take up to 10 to 15 days depending on from which state you are from. If your wife file goes to Mumbai consulate, you do not need to submit PCC at NVC, you will need to submit it at the time of the interview, i think this ONLY applies to Mumbai Consulate. I think you may also need to get local police certificate in more than one State in India, this is if your wife lived in more than one State after the age of 16 ( Not to sure about this). You need to obatin PCC from the Passport office. I would advise you to call NVC and ask them if she ONLY need PCC from Passport office or also for local police too because i have heard that you may or may not need both Police Certificate, call NVC to verify it.

Documents needed (DO NOT depend on what is listed here, because I believe each State in India has its own requirements for the document, you may want to call the passport office in India where your wife lives and they can tell you):

1) Application Form (Not sure what the form is called, my wife filled out in India, she was able to obtain in from her friend, since she had extra copy)

2) Proof of present address

3) Police Certificate from local police

4) Valid Original Passport

5) Interview letter or DS-230 Document Cover sheet

Please do not depend on the information above, as i am not professional in this, you may want to also tell your wife to contact her agent in India and get more info, this is if you wife has an agent in india.

hopefully this helps, and again DO NOT totally depend on the information above, do the research on your own too as i know each State in India has it own requirements in obtaining a PCC.

You also need this I think:

Proof of Identity, Passport size photo (I think in india they have different size requirement for photo for PCC)

you may want to check with someone in india on the size for the photo.

There are two PSK offices in Ahmedabad, which of these two office your wife went for PCC?

Did they ask her for interview letter from Mumbai Consulate? Or did they accept interview letter email sent by NVC?

Did she schedule an appointment before visiting PSK office? Or just did a walk-in application? I read somewhere on VJ that if an applicant has already obtained PCC from local police station, then PSK will issue PCC within a day, is that correct?

you can either show interview letter or DS 230 Cover Sheet (this is what they ask my wife to show). Not to sure if she made an appt or not (I think she walk in) and not sure which PSK she went but she was able to get PCC in one day from PSK since she had local police certificate in hand.

oh you know i just remember my wife telling me that her friend in india told her that you can go to any PSK in ahemdabad but you may want to find out which one your wife needs to go to, maybe ask your wife's agent if she has an agent in india.

can you verify with her if she actually just walked in to PSK or made an appointment? Making an appointment online at PSK is a nightmare and I want to avoid that if possible

We are doing the whole process by ourselves without any agent.

Thanks for the info.

No, I don't think it will add any advantage to your wife besides a moral support, and she can tell CO "my USC husband is waiting outside for me". If your case is straight forward (considering both are below 35yrs of age and this is the first marriage for both of you, no financial hardship, no criminal background on her name, no major medical issues for her), then she does not need to worry at all. Mumbai consulate interviews are easy except lot of complications.

what complications are you referring to?

There could be many....... just as an example: getting married to exploit immigration laws for a green card.
