Saylin, just want to know the answer to few small questions.

1. i sent all my documents including my pics to my wife. I wrote old case number on the back of the pics. Should we cross it and write new one?

2. Last month i renewed my passport 5 months earlier than expiry date. Do i need to send my old passport bio-data page and Dubai residence visa? (as i am resident of Dubai and asked for interview in Abu Dhabi)

3. Should we add wedding photographs in DS-230 (Packet IV)? do we need to mention it in cover letter?

1. If you got a new case number, yes, I'd write it. Maybe don't cross out the old one though, just in case (or cross it out by just putting one line through it, so it's still visible if needed).

2. If you have a new passport, send a copy of that one's bio-data page. And yes, definitely send a copy of your residence visa (front and back). If you don't, then you'll get issued a checklist for it. (Make sure you bring your residence visa with you to the interview by the way, they may want to see it).

3. Is the Abu Dhabi a hard place to interview? If it is, then yes, send proof of relationship with the IV package. If it's not that hard, then just bring the proof of relationship with you to the interview. If you do decide to send pictures, then just write "Proof of relationship" on the cover letter in the appropriate place.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Make sure she mentions it at the interview. They should fix the DS-230 for her (or make her do it).

Then, at POE, they review the forms with you, so make sure they have the new address on file.

If the green card is then mailed to the correct address, you've got nothing to do. If it's incorrectly mailed to the old address, then you'll need to contact USCIS and update them, which hopefully it doesn't come to.

How important is it to receive the physical NOA2?

I ask because our case status was updated 2 weeks ago to show that the I-130 was approved. We're still waiting for the NVC to receive the case. But we have not yet received the NOA2 in the mail. Yesterday we got an email from USCIS saying that something they sent us was returned to them. Not sure why, we always get mail at this address, including from USCIS in the past. We're assuming this is the NOA2. So we contacted USCIS and asked them to resend.

But I was wondering whether it really matters if we receive the NOA2 in the mail or not. Since I am in Canada, I can do electronic processing from this point on. Does it matter if the hard copy of the NOA2 never reaches us? Could this delay sending the case to NVC?

Thanks.

Since you don't need to send the NOA2 to NVC or need it at the interview, no, it's not necessary to have received. It's just good to have for your records.

Timeline

Hello every one, its another new month - August. It will be a month of positives and good luck for us all, just like May was. June and July was not so fantastic as it were. I have been in the NVC stage since 29th of May when my NOA2 was approved. Thankfully my case got completed today after such a long wait.

The issue i am having now is that my case is on hold at the NVC and they cannot schedule an interview due to the reasons i am about to explain to you all.

I have been resident in the UK for 5 years. I opted to be interviewed in the UK for my green card, but the NVC required me to send a proof of domicile in the UK to them. Lately i have been having issues with my resident permit which involved me appealing to the visa tribunal in the UK. I have been to court and i am awaiting the verdict on this. In the meantime, my case at the NVC is on hold and i dont know when the judge in the UK will get back to me. With regards to proof of domicile, first question is , will the NVC accept tribunal appeal letters and then continue the scheduling of my interview or they will require an actual visa in the country where you claim you are domiciled.

Another option for me is to request the NVC to continue scheduling my interview in Lagos Nigeria, my country of birth, but aha...Lagos being a high fraud consulate, i have not done a good job at front loading evidence of our relationship both at the USCIS and NVC stages because i thought my interview was going to be in London. Second question is, now that my case is complete at NVC and on hold, is it too late to front load evidence of continued relationship like pictures, trips, hotel bookings, phone logs, bb logs and monies i sent . OR i should hold on to this and have all these handy when i go for my interview in Lagos?

I hope my questions are not vague. I apologies if this question has been repeated and answered on another thread. Many thanks in anticipation of your answers.......

FYI, Based on my recent experience, I now feel it's totally useless to call NVC to find out if an interview date is scheduled. They won't schedule a date for you quickly if you keep calling them everyday. They will do their work only when it's a right time for them to do it.

Going forward, I won't recommend any of my friends to call NVC to find out an interview date everyday. May be once in every 3 to 5 days is fine just to make sure you were not missed out on email notification.

Yeah I call about twice a week, but I also check the timelines of VJers to get a rough estimate of where the NVC is processing. It's not 100% accurate of course because VJers make up a tiny percentage of the overall applications at NVC, but it's good for estimating.

Thanks for the info. I sent her a ds230 already filled out but with the old address I sent it to her before moving can she use white out in the appropriate box or will she need to fill out a new ds230?

I definitely don't suggest whiteout. Just get her to fill out a new DS-230.

Would it really be a problem if whiteout was used for a change of address?

It probably wouldn't be a problem, but I'd never recommend using white out on important forms (government, immigration, etc).
