So regarding I-864, Part 4. Question 15. We should write United States even if the USC lives abroad with the petitioner and then prove the intent to re-establish domicile, correct?

(We plan on using the letter given in the F.A.Q. on page 1 and fill in with what we have.)

Yup, put USA for the domicile question, then provide as much proof as you can of re-establishing domicile in the US, using the list you've already found in the FAQ good.gif

got our nvc case# in july, but sent out on this past friday. I hope it goes quickly from here! takes about 2 weeks for case complete?

Currently taking about 1 week actually ;) It's quite possible you'll have a case complete this week yes.gif

I mailed the I-864 package on 8/14 and I'm curious if they will send me an email acceptance or do I have to call them to find out if the package has been approved?

They won't send you any email, you have to call and ask

Philippians 4 vs 6-7

we paid the aos fee yesterday and it says in process but we got a cover sheet and receipt from nvc can we send the aos packtage now even if it doesn't shows paid ?

I would NOT suggest sending the AOS package (even though you have everything) until the AOS bill is showing as PAID in the payment portal. If something goes wrong with the payment and you've sent the package already, it can cause delays at NVC when they receive it without having the bill paid for correctly first.

Nope, no email. You need to call to find out! Since it's been almost 2 weeks, I'm betting they've reviewed your package already. Call up asap to find out!

Saylin - I'd really appreciate some guidance on this, if you're able to help:

- AOS paid/submitted, reviewed, all okay

- IV paid/submitted, reviewed, and my certified birth certificate is apparently not accepted. RFE for another certified birth certificate, while at the same time, the operator pulled my file for supervisory review. Sent second certified birth certificate (tracked - it HAS arrived at NVC) – and this is where it gets a bit confusing.

My partner spoke to the NVC this morning, and they told him that they planned to ship it to the London embassy and I would be able to take ANOTHER certified copy of my birth certificate to the interview, once scheduled.

Called up to clarify myself that it was being sent to London. Apparently not. The lady, who was not particularly nice at all, said the NVC had reviewed my file on Friday, and was issuing another RFE for my birth certificate. Which, as above, had been sent and is in the freaking building. I asked to speak with a supervisor, but she told me none were available.

So I'm totally confused and at a loss what to do next. The NVC now has two certified copies of my birth certificate, one of which may or may not be with my file. They're telling me it'll take another 20 business days to review the second birth certificate, despite it being in the building since last Monday, and the file being reviewed on Friday. Again, at the same time, another operator told us it it being sent to London and I can present yet another certified copy there. What the hell!

Basically - any guidance or help would be really appreciated!

Well, at least your AOS was accepted laughing.gif

Ooof about your IV package though.

First off, they wouldn't send your package to London until AFTER an interview has been scheduled. So, if you hear that again from an operator, they're misinformed about how IR-1/CR-1 applicants' cases work.

I'm wondering if they got to your second BC on Friday. Remember, it takes around a week to review packages, so although it's in the building, it hasn't worked its way to your case yet.

All you can really do is ask for a supervisor and speak with them. Explain what happened and what you did. Request that if that's all that's wrong with your case, for them to complete your case and that you'll bring a certified copy to the interview.

Thank you! It's just so frustrating... The stupid thing is, the first birth certificate WAS certified and from the registrar, as requested, in the first place! The registrar must think I'm crazy for keep purchasing more of my own birth certificates, ha!

Is it likely they will complete my case without the certified birth certificate (even though it's in the building and may not have made its way to my file)?

I guess all I can do is try – and avoid the operator I spoke with, who kept talking over me, and didn't listen to what I was saying at all :/

Thanks again :)

Yeah, sometimes, NVC doesn't accept birth/marriage certificates, even though they're the correct ones headbonk.gif

And yes, the case can be completed even though they don't have the "correct" certificate. I've seen it happen a few times where people have requested the case be completed and they'll bring the certificate to the interview instead. So, it's definitely possible yes.gif

Yes, keep us all updated!

And I believe there is somewhere you can complain about NVC's practices, but I can't seem to find the link anywhere...

Edit: Found it! Another member complained through this site: http://oig.state.gov/

Am I right to assume that $0.00 showing for IV is the equivalent of Not Invoiced for AOS? (Although I am now guessing that means my DS-3032 hasn't been processed)

When I called the NVC they also gave me a beneficiary ID number (Not NVC Case Number or USCIS Reciept or IIN) - Haven't heard of that before?

I'm confused about your first question as the IV and AOS are two separate bills. The AOS is invoiced automatically a few days (although can take longer) after the case number is assigned. The IV bill though is only invoiced after the DS-3032 has been accepted and added to the case file.

As for the beneficiary ID, you don't need it at all. You will never use this number ever. The number is only used for countries eligible for online forms and Ireland is NOT one of those eligible countries. The only two numbers you need are the case number and IIN.
